Role & responsibilities

Job Purpose:

We are looking for an IT Executive who will be responsible for managing the day-to-day IT infrastructure of the organization, including approximately 1520 computers/systems. The candidate should be capable of independently handling hardware, software, networking, user-support and basic system administration issues.

Knowledge of SAP and experience in supporting SAP users will be an added advantage.

Key Responsibilities

1. Hardware & Desktop Support

- Install, configure and maintain desktop computers, laptops, printers and other IT peripherals.
- Diagnose and resolve hardware-related issues such as system failure, RAM, hard disk, SMPS, monitor, keyboard, mouse, printer, etc.
- Coordinate with external vendors/service providers for hardware repairs and replacements.
- Maintain records of IT assets, computers and peripherals.
- Ensure preventive maintenance of IT hardware and systems.

1. Software & Application Support

- Install, configure and update operating systems, applications and required software.
- Troubleshoot Windows, MS Office, email and other application-related issues.
- Manage antivirus installation, updates and basic endpoint security.
- Maintain software licenses and ensure authorized software is installed on company systems.
- Provide timely technical support to employees for day-to-day IT issues.

1. Networking & Internet Support

- Maintain basic LAN/WAN infrastructure and office network connectivity.
- Troubleshoot LAN, Wi-Fi, internet and connectivity-related issues.
- Manage basic configuration of routers, switches, Wi-Fi devices and network printers.
- Coordinate with Internet Service Providers for connectivity-related problems.
- Maintain network connectivity between office and plant users wherever applicable.

1. SAP Support

- Provide basic IT support to employees using SAP.
- Coordinate with SAP consultants/support partners for technical or application-related issues.




- Assist users with basic SAP login, system connectivity and access-related issues.
- Maintain proper communication and follow-up for unresolved SAP issues.

1. Data Backup & IT Security

- Ensure regular backup of important company data and files.
- Monitor basic data security and access controls.
- Maintain user IDs, passwords and access rights as per company policy.
- Ensure antivirus, operating system and security updates are regularly installed.
- Support management in implementing IT security practices.

1. IT Asset & Vendor Management

- Maintain an updated IT Asset Register covering computers, laptops, printers, networking equipment and other IT assets.
- Track allocation and movement of IT assets.
- Maintain records of AMC, warranty and service agreements.
- Coordinate with IT hardware, software, internet and other service vendors.
- Maintain records of IT-related expenses and service activities.

1. User Support & IT Administration

- Provide first-level technical support to all employees.
- Attend and resolve IT complaints within defined timelines.
- Maintain an IT complaint/ticket register.
- Assist in onboarding of new employees by arranging computers, email IDs, software and other IT requirements.
- Deactivate/collect IT assets and access when employees leave the organization.
- Prepare basic IT reports for management as required.

Required Skills & Competencies

- Strong knowledge of computer hardware and troubleshooting.
- Good knowledge of Windows operating systems and MS Office.
- Knowledge of LAN, Wi-Fi, networking and internet troubleshooting.




- Knowledge of printers, scanners and other office peripherals.
- Basic knowledge of antivirus, data backup and IT security.
- Good troubleshooting and problem-solving ability.
- Ability to independently manage IT support for a small organization.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to coordinate effectively with external IT vendors/service providers.
- SAP knowledge/support experience will be preferred.

Educational Qualification

- Bachelor's degree/diploma in Computer Science, IT, Computer Applications, Electronics or a related field.
- Certifications such as MCSE, CCNA, CompTIA, Microsoft or other relevant IT certifications will be an added advantage.

Experience

- 45 years of relevant experience in IT support, desktop support, system administration or a similar role.
- Experience of independently managing IT infrastructure for a small or medium-sized organization will be preferred.
- Experience in a manufacturing environment will be an added advantage.

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

- Timely resolution of hardware and software issues.
- Minimum downtime of IT systems.
- Availability and reliability of network/internet connectivity.
- Regular completion of data backups and system updates.
- Accuracy and completeness of IT asset records.
- Timely coordination with external IT vendors.
- Effective user support and satisfaction.
- Proper implementation of IT security and access-control practices.

Preferred candidate profile The ideal candidate should be a hands-on IT skilled capable of independently managing the complete day-to-day IT requirements of a small manufacturing unit with around 1520 computer users. The person should be comfortable working on hardware, software, networking and user-support issues rather than being limited to a single area of IT. SAP knowledge will be preferred but is not mandatory.
