We are looking for an experienced and detail-oriented Inspection Executive to manage and coordinate inspection and quality-control activities for our railway engineering projects. The ideal candidate should have hands-on experience in dealing with government inspection agencies such as RITES, RDSO, and other railway/government authorities, along with solid knowledge of inspection documentation, quality audits, material inspection, process inspection, and laboratory testing.
Role & responsibilities
- Coordinate and conduct inspections with RITES, RDSO, Indian Railways, and other government/third-party inspection agencies.
- Coordinate inspection schedules, arrange required documents, and ensure readiness of materials and products for inspection.
- Prepare and maintain Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs), inspection requests, check sheets, inspection reports, and quality records.
- Conduct raw material and incoming material inspections to verify compliance with approved specifications, drawings, standards, and purchase requirements.
- Carry out in-process/process inspections at various stages of manufacturing and production.
- Conduct final inspection of finished products before dispatch or submission for external inspection.
- Coordinate and witness laboratory testing of raw materials, components, and finished products as per applicable standards and specifications.
- Review laboratory test reports and ensure that test results meet the required specifications.
- Conduct and assist with quality audits, internal inspections, and supplier/vendor inspections.
- Identify non-conformities and coordinate corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) with the concerned departments.
- Verify material certificates, test certificates,
calibration certificates, inspection reports, and other quality-related documentation.
- Ensure proper traceability of raw materials, production batches, inspection stages, and finished products.
- Review engineering drawings, specifications, standards, and applicable inspection requirements before conducting inspections.
- Maintain proper records of inspection clearances, rejection reports, NCRs, test reports, check sheets, and quality documentation.
- Coordinate with production, quality, engineering, purchase, and project teams to resolve inspection-related issues.
- Assist during customer inspections, government inspections, surveillance inspections, and quality audits.
- Ensure that inspection and testing activities comply with applicable Indian Railway/RDSO specifications, relevant BIS/IS standards, project specifications, and approved quality plans.
- Prepare periodic reports on inspection status, pending inspections, test results, NCRs, and quality performance.
- Perform other quality and inspection-related duties as assigned by management.
Preferred candidate profile
- Diploma/Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Civil, Electrical, Production, Metallurgy, or a related engineering discipline.
- 2 to 15 years of experience in inspection/quality control, preferably in railway engineering, manufacturing, fabrication, infrastructure,
or engineering industries.
- Practical experience in dealing with RITES, RDSO, Indian Railways, or other government/third-party inspection agencies will be strongly preferred.
- Good understanding of Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs), check sheets, inspection procedures, quality plans, and inspection documentation.
- Experience in raw material inspection, process inspection, final inspection, and laboratory testing.
- Knowledge of quality audits, NCRs, corrective actions, and quality-control procedures.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings, technical specifications, applicable standards, and test requirements.
- Good documentation and reporting skills.
- Proficiency in MS Excel, MS Word, PDF documentation, and other basic computer applications.
- Strong communication and coordination skills, particularly when dealing with inspectors, laboratories, vendors, production teams, and government agencies.
Candidates with experience in railway components, rubber and nylon components, railway infrastructure products, fabrication, welding, structural steel , or other railway-approved products will be preferred. Experience with RITES/RDSO inspection procedures, railway specifications, approved vendors, quality plans, source inspection, stage inspection, and final inspection will be an added advantage.
