As part of eBay's Americas Indirect Tax team, you'll partner with teams across GCX, Product, and Engineering to solve complex business challenges that directly impact millions of buyers and sellers. From investigating tax issues and improving customer experiences to analyzing data and influencing product enhancements, you'll gain valuable insight into how one of the world's leading ecommerce platforms operates while developing expertise at the intersection of tax, technology, and analytics.

Responsibilities
- Ownership and main point of contact for escalated sales tax refunds related to taxability issues and buyer exemptions
- Collaborate with customer service to resolve customer-initiated sales/VAT tax inquiries
- Engage with the Tax Product team to investigate root causes for incorrect application of taxability and provide recommendations solutions in collaboration with the broader IDT team.
- Review Monthly Vertex Data patches prior to application.
- Assist US-based Indirect Tax Team in with audit support by gathering and analyzing large data sets and other support documentation
- Assist US-based Indirect Tax Team with other special projects or miscellaneous duties as assigned
- Perform ad-hoc tax technical research
- Collaborate with the indirect tax team finance innovation transformation (FIT) team to identify opportunities to design and implement scalable solutions to streamline indirect tax processes.
Requirements
- Knowledge of U.S. sales use taxes, Canadian GST and additional global VAT systems
- Experience with Vertex and/or other tax engines a plus
- Capable of working independently while acting as part of a global tax team
- Strong issue identification and mitigation skills
- Ability to articulate complex concepts in a concise manner both written and verbally
- Proficiency with Excel, Google Suite, and tax research tools
- Experience with ChatGPT, Gemini, Tableau, Alteryx and other data wrangling tools a plus
Basic Qualifications
- 1-3 years of related corporate finance and/or accounting experience
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent with emphasis in Finance, Information Systems, or Accounting. Advanced degree a plus
- Fluent in English - other languages helpful
