About the Role
Were looking for a HubSpot Developer to design, build, and maintain the technical backbone of our marketing operations. This role sits at the intersection of engineering and marketing - youll be writing HubL, building integrations, and architecting workflows, but the work only succeeds if the marketing team can actually use and trust what you build.
The ideal candidate doesnt just know HubSpots technical capabilities; they understand how marketing teams operate day-to-day, and they design solutions that are sustainable, well-documented, and easy for non-technical teammates to use, adapt, and troubleshoot without needing a developer every time something needs to change.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, build, and maintain custom HubSpot solutions including custom modules, themes, templates, and CMS pages
- Develop and manage complex workflows, automation, and lifecycle stage logic that support marketing, sales, and customer success handoffs
- Build and maintain integrations between HubSpot and other systems (CRM, data warehouse, billing, support tools, etc.) using HubSpot APIs, webhooks, and middleware tools
- Partner closely with marketing team members to understand campaign goals and operational workflows, translating those needs into technical implementations that are stable, scalable, and easy for non-technical users to operate day-to-day
- Build systems with maintainability in mind: clear naming conventions, documentation, and admin-friendly configuration so marketers can make routine updates without developer involvement
- Troubleshoot workflow, automation, and integration issues, and proactively identify and resolve technical debt
- Stay current on HubSpot platform updates and evaluate recent features for relevance to marketing operations
- Create internal documentation and light training materials so marketing team members can confidently use the tools you build
Required Qualifications
- 4+ years of hands-on HubSpot development experience (CMS development, workflows, automation)
- Proficiency in HubL, JavaScript, HTML/CSS, and working with the HubSpot API
- Experience building and maintaining third-party integrations (native, custom, or via middleware such as Zapier/Workato)
- Solid understanding of marketing funnel/lifecycle concepts - lead nurturing, campaign structure, attribution, and how marketing teams actually use these systems day-to-day
- Demonstrated ability to translate marketing requirements into technical solutions, and to explain technical concepts back in plain language for non-technical stakeholders
- Strong instincts for building sustainable systems - clean, documented, and maintainable rather than clever-but-fragile
- Comfort working cross-functionally with marketing, sales, and RevOps teams
Preferred Qualifications
- HubSpot certifications (CMS for Developers, HubSpot Solutions Architect, or similar)
- Experience with Salesforce or another CRM integrated with HubSpot
- Familiarity with other marketing automation platforms (Marketo, Pardot) as points of comparison
- Experience supporting a marketing team through a HubSpot migration, audit, or major platform build-out
- Background in marketing operations or a hybrid marketing/engineering role
What Success Looks Like in This Role Youll know youre succeeding when marketing team members can self-serve the vast majority of their day-to-day needs, workflows keep running cleanly as campaigns scale, and your integrations dont require a developer to babysit them. The technical craftsmanship matters - but so does building things people who arent developers can actually live with.
