Position Overview
We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented EHS Officer / Executive to drive shop-floor safety, fire protection operations, statutory compliance, and integrated management systems at our pharmaceutical manufacturing facility. The role is key to embedding a strong safety culture and maintaining full compliance across all plant activities.
Key Responsibilities
- Safety Inductions & Training: Conduct comprehensive EHS induction for all new employees, contractors, and vendors prior to work start. Design and deliver technical training on SCBA usage, Working at Height, Confined Space Entry, Hot Work, Solvent Handling, Toxic Gas Control, Chemical Spill Response, and PPE usage.
- Work Permits & Plant Inspections: Issue and monitor daily high-risk Work Permits (Hot Work, Height, Confined Space, Electrical, Excavation). Conduct regular plant walk-throughs to correct unsafe acts/conditions and ensure ongoing adherence to safety procedures.
- Fire Protection & Emergency Response: Coordinate the operation, routine inspection, and preventive maintenance of Fire Extinguishers, Hydrant Systems, Alarm Systems, and Public Address (PA) Systems. Lead immediate on-site response for emergencies (fires, explosions, chemical spills, gas leaks) and conduct periodic mock drills.
- Management Systems (ISO 14001, 45001, 50001 & SA 8000): Prepare, update,
and manage core EHS documentationincluding HIRA, Aspect-Impact Assessments, In office Emergency Plans, ISO Manuals, and internal audit reports. Drive effective plant-wide implementation to achieve plant certification target by 2027.
- Incident Investigation & Safety Culture: Investigate near-misses and unsafe conditions to implement effective Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPA). Organize Safety Committee meetings, annual safety awareness campaigns, National Safety Week activities, and motivational suggestion schemes.
- Statutory Compliance & Cross-Site Audits: Ensure compliance with all local EHS regulations and support official regulatory inspections. Perform internal EHS audits and support mock drills/audits at other sister facilities as needed.
Candidate Qualifications & Experience
- EHS Executive: Graduate Degree + Diploma in Industrial Safety / Fire & Safety.
- EHS Officer: Diploma in Industrial Safety / Fire & Safety.
- Experience: Hands-on experience in Fire & Safety, EHS Management Systems, and pharmaceutical or active process manufacturing facilities is strongly preferred.
