Role Description This is a full time remote role for Freelance Medical and Legal Interpreters (Japanese) based in India. The interpreter will provide accurate, confidential, and culturally sensitive interpretation between Japanese and English (and/or local Indian languages) for medical and legal consultations, hearings, and related professional settings.

Daily tasks include participating in scheduled calls or video sessions, interpreting spoken communication in real time, and ensuring that terminology and context are conveyed correctly. The role also involves preparing for assignments by reviewing reference materials, maintaining up-to-date knowledge of medical and legal terminology,



and following client-specific guidelines and codes of ethics. Interpreters are expected to manage their schedules responsibly, meet service quality standards, and collaborate with coordinators to support seamless service delivery.

Qualifications

- Strong skills in Medical Interpretation and solid understanding of Medical Terminology.
- Proficiency in Translation and Interpreting between Japanese and English (and/or relevant Indian languages).
- Capability in Simultaneous Interpretation in professional medical and legal environments.
- Native or near-native fluency in Japanese and excellent command of English; additional Indian languages are an advantage.
- Prior experience in medical and/or legal interpreting, preferably in clinical, hospital, law firm, or court-related settings.
- Familiarity with confidentiality standards, professional ethics, and data protection requirements.
- Ability to work remotely with reliable internet, suitable hardware (headset, computer), and a quiet environment.
- Relevant certification or training in interpreting or translation; a degree in languages, law, healthcare, or related fields is beneficial.
- Strong listening skills, attention to detail, and capacity to remain calm and neutral in sensitive situations.
- Willingness to work flexible hours to support international clients across multiple time zones.
