Overview The Senior Firmware Engineer plays a crucial role in designing, developing, and maintaining reliable and robust firmware for the companys Telematics Products. This role involves developing and supporting vehicle bus-based features, ensuring seamless integration with the vehicle systems.

The Senior Firmware

Engineer is also deeply involved in both hardware and embedded software development, working closely with cross-functional teams to innovate and enhance the functionality of telematics solutions. The position requires collaboration with the Head of Hardware Engineering to drive product innovation, ensuring that the firmware solutions meet the highest standards of quality, performance, and customer satisfaction.

Responsibilities and Duties

- Design and develop high-quality, reliable, and robust firmware for Teletrac telematics products, ensuring seamless operation and integration with hardware components.
- Develop and support vehicle bus-based features, working closely with the hardware engineering team to ensure compatibility and functionality within the telematics system.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including hardware, software, and QA engineers to ensure cohesive development, integration, and testing of firmware solutions.
- Troubleshoot and resolve embedded firmware issues, providing technical support during product lifecycle phases, from development through post-release maintenance.




- Contribute to the design and development of embedded software that supports Teletrac broader system architecture, ensuring high performance and scalability.
- Drive product innovation by proposing, designing, and implementing new firmware features that enhance functionality, improve performance, and meet customer needs.
- Write and maintain technical documentation for firmware design, development, and testing procedures to ensure clarity and traceability throughout the development process.
- Participate in ongoing firmware and software maintenance, providing bug fixes, updates, and performance optimizations to meet evolving customer requirements and product specifications.

Required Skills / Qualifications

- Education: A Bachelor’s degree in Electronics Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field (BSc/BE), or equivalent hands-on experience in embedded systems and firmware development.
- Experience: 7+ years of experience in embedded bare-metal firmware development using C, with a proven history of designing, implementing, and maintaining embedded systems.
- Firmware Testing: Strong experience in firmware testing, including the ability to create and execute comprehensive test plans to ensure the reliability and robustness of embedded software.
- Agile Development: Experience working in an agile development environment, demonstrating flexibility and efficiency in iterative development processes and cross-functional collaboration.
- Problem-Solving and Attention to Detail: A strong ability to solve complex problems with creative and effective solutions, while maintaining a high level of attention to detail in both the design and development stages.
- Autonomy and Team Collaboration: Ability to work independently, using judgment and experience to design feature implementations and resolve complex issues, while also contributing to team improvement by sharing knowledge and collaborating effectively.
- Communication and Professionalism: Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively at all levels, and a qualified attitude that ensures high standards in development, documentation, and stakeholder interactions.
