Role Description The Field Engineer Marine HVAC Systems role is a full-time, on-site position based in Chennai. The role involves inspecting, installing, commissioning, and maintaining marine HVAC systems on vessels under construction or repair. Day-to-day tasks include troubleshooting HVAC equipment and controls, conducting performance tests, and ensuring proper alignment and integration with shipboard mechanical and electrical systems.

The engineer will prepare technical reports, maintain documentation, and coordinate with shipyard teams, vendors, and supervisors to meet project timelines and safety standards. The role also includes supporting preventive maintenance plans, adhering to marine regulations,



and assisting in continuous improvement of HVAC designs and installation practices.

Qualifications

- Strong knowledge of marine HVAC systems, including installation, commissioning, and troubleshooting of chillers, air handling units, ventilation, and ducting.
- Experience with shipboard mechanical and electrical systems, including alignment jobs, piping, cabling, and integration with other onboard equipment.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, HVAC layouts, schematics, and shipbuilding plans.
- Proficiency in using diagnostic tools, measurement instruments, and basic hand and power tools relevant to marine HVAC work.
- Understanding of safety standards, marine regulations, and shipyard work practices, with a strong focus on safe work procedures.
- Relevant technical diploma or degree in Mechanical, Marine, or Electrical Engineering (or equivalent practical experience in marine HVAC or shipbuilding).
- Effective communication skills and the ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams in a shipyard environment.
- Willingness to work on board ships, in confined spaces, and in varying weather conditions, with flexibility for extended hours when project needs require.
- Prior experience in ship repair or shipbuilding is an advantage; familiarity with classification society requirements is a plus.
