Role Objective/Purpose of the Role :
To support the implementation and execution of Environment, Health & Safety (EHS) programs at the plant level with a strong focus on shopfloor engagement, regulatory compliance, and risk reduction. The role involves hands-on involvement in daily operations to ensure adherence to Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental regulations, and company EHS standards.The position will actively partner with production and engineering teams to promote a safe working culture and continuous improvement in EHS performance.
Primary Responsibilities
- Support the implementation and monitoring of EHS programs including risk assessment, hazard identification, safety inspections, and compliance audits across shopfloor operations.
- Actively engage with shopfloor employees and supervisors to promote protected work practices, conduct safety observations, and drive behavioral safety initiatives.
- Ensure compliance with applicable local statutory requirements related to Occupational Health & Safety, Environment Protection, Industrial Hygiene, and Waste Management.
- Assist in conducting EHS training programs, toolbox talks, and awareness sessions for employees and contract workforce.
- Participate in incident reporting, investigation, root cause analysis, and implementation of corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
- Monitor workplace conditions including air quality, noise levels, waste handling, and hazardous material storage, ensuring compliance with standards.
- Support emergency preparedness activities including mock drills, evacuation plans, and first response coordination.
- Maintain EHS documentation,
records, permits, and reports as per statutory and organizational requirements.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Production, Maintenance, Quality) to integrate EHS practices into daily operations.
- Assist in internal and external audits (ISO14001, ISO 45001) and ensure timely closure of audit findings.
- Track key EHS metrics, identify trends, and support continuous improvement initiatives on the shop floor.
- Coordinate with external agencies/vendors for waste disposal, monitoring, and compliance-related activities.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND/OR RELATED EXPERIENCE or equivalent experience gained from any combination of formal education, on-the-job training, and/or work and life experience
Education:
B Tech /M Tech - Safety / Environmental Engineering / Industrial Safety / Chemical / Mechanical
Related Experience (years): 3-8 years in FMCG/ Pharma Manufacturing Plant is preferred.
Certification(s) / License(s)
- RLI / ADIS / NEBOSH (preferred)
- Internal Auditor ISO 14001 & ISO 45001 (preferred)
Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or Related Experience:
- Practical understanding of EHS regulations and statutory compliance requirements
- Hands-on experience in shopfloor safety practices and hazard control measures
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills to interact with shopfloor workforce and cross-functional teams
- Ability to conduct risk assessments, incident investigations, and safety audits
- Working knowledge of ISO 14001 & ISO 45001 management systems
- Basic proficiency in MS Office and EHS data tracking tools
- Analytical mindset to identify trends, unsafe conditions, and improvement opportunities
- High level of ownership, accountability, and proactive safety mindset.
