Purpose of the role To ensure safe, reliable and efficient operation and maintenance of electrical equipment and systems of the 12 MW Thermal Power Plant by carrying out preventive, predictive and breakdown maintenance, attending electrical faults, supporting plant operations and maintaining electrical equipment availability while strictly adhering to safety, statutory and operating procedures.

Role & responsibilities

Electrical Operation & Maintenance

- Carry out routine operation, inspection and maintenance of electrical equipment in the power plant.
- Attend electrical breakdowns and faults and restore equipment/system availability within the required time.
- Carry out preventive and corrective maintenance of motors, pumps, fans, MCCs, switchboards, transformers, batteries and other electrical equipment.
- Assist in maintenance of electrical systems associated with boiler, turbine, generator, cooling water, coal/ash handling and auxiliary systems.
- Monitor equipment condition and report abnormalities such as overheating, abnormal noise, vibration, sparking or insulation deterioration.
- Perform electrical testing, troubleshooting, and fault identification as directed by the Electrical Engineer.
- Assist in inspection and maintenance of cables, cable trays, lighting systems, earthing, and electrical panels.
- Ensure proper housekeeping around electrical installations and work areas.

Generator & Auxiliary Electrical Systems

- Assist in routine inspection and maintenance of generator-related electrical systems and auxiliaries.
- Support maintenance of HT/LT switchgear, transformers, MCCs and distribution panels.
- Carry out routine checks of motor-operated equipment and electrical auxiliaries.
- Assist during planned shutdowns, annual maintenance and major overhauling activities.

# Preventive Maintenance & Inspection





- Execute preventive maintenance schedules as per approved maintenance plans.
- Record equipment parameters, inspection findings and maintenance activities.
- Identify potential failures and immediately report critical observations to the supervisor.
- Maintain electrical tools, equipment and test instruments in good working condition.

Safety & Compliance

- Strictly follow electrical safety procedures, PPE requirements and plant safety rules.
- Comply with Permit-to-Work (PTW), Lock-Out/Tag-Out (LOTO) and electrical isolation procedures.
- Ensure proper isolation and discharge of electrical equipment before undertaking maintenance.
- Participate in toolbox talks, safety meetings, mock drills and emergency response activities.
- Report unsafe conditions, electrical hazards, near misses and incidents promptly.

Documentation & Coordination

- Maintain records of maintenance activities, breakdowns, inspections and equipment readings.
- Coordinate with Shift Operators, Mechanical, Instrumentation and other maintenance teams for plant activities.
- Assist supervisors during statutory inspections, testing and audits.

Ensure timely reporting of spares, consumables and tools required for maintenance.

Preferred candidate profile

- Certification in Electrical Safety / Industrial electrical maintenance will be preferred
- Experience in electrical operation and maintenance of a thermal power plant, industrial plant, manufacturing facility or similar heavy electrical installation.
- Working knowledge of electrical systems, equipment, circuits, and distribution panels.
- Working Knowledge of electrical protection systems and basic relay concepts, maintenance and electrical safety.
- Ability to work effectively in shifts
- Responsiveness during plant emergencies and breakdowns.
- Ownership and accountability for assigned work.
- Positive communication and reporting skills.
