This is a project based opportunity for Freelancers/Independent Consultants.
Our client, a leading global specialist in Energy Management and Automation, is seeking an experienced Independent EV Charging Infrastructure Consultant / Advisor to support the planning and implementation of EV charging infrastructure across residential, commercial, and mixed-use buildings in India. The consultant will advise building owners, developers, RWAs, facility teams, and MEP consultants on the end-to-end design and implementation of EV charging infrastructure, covering feasibility, electrical architecture, regulatory compliance, technology selection, and implementation planning. The ideal consultant will bring strong hands-on experience in EV charging, electrical/MEP design, and building infrastructure, with a practical understanding of the Indian regulatory and market landscape.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct site assessments and evaluate the technical and commercial feasibility of EV charging infrastructure in new and existing buildings.
- Assess charging demand and recommend the appropriate AC/DC charger mix, capacity, phasing, and deployment strategy.
- Develop complete electrical architecture for EV charging deployments, including:
- Load and diversity calculations
- Transformer and incomer adequacy
- Dedicated EV feeders and metering
- Panel/DB schematics and Single Line Diagrams (SLDs)
- Cable sizing and routing
- Containment and trenching requirements
- Earthing and protection coordination
- RCD/RDC-DD requirements
- Advise on dynamic load management, sub-metering, billing, and charging management platforms.
- Support evaluation of AC and DC charging technologies, connector standards, and relevant digital/interoperability protocols.
- Advise stakeholders on applicable Indian and state-level regulations, approvals, safety requirements, DISCOM processes, and local implementation considerations.
- Develop technical specifications, BOQs, and implementation recommendations.
- Provide guidance on suitable commercial models, including CAPEX, OPEX, and CPO-owned/operated models.
- Support stakeholders through implementation planning, commissioning, and handover as required.

Skills Required
- 4+ years of relevant experience in EV charging infrastructure, electrical engineering, MEP consulting, eMobility, or a closely related field.
- Proven hands-on experience delivering EV charging implementations in buildings, preferably across group housing, commercial offices, malls, hotels, hospitals, or mixed-use developments.
- Strong understanding of electrical infrastructure and the ability to independently develop EV charging electrical architecture, SLDs, load calculations, cable sizing, metering, protection, and routing plans.
- Working knowledge of AC charging, DC fast charging, connector standards, OCPP 1.6J, OCPI, ISO 15118 readiness, and dynamic load management.
- Robust familiarity with India’s EV charging regulatory ecosystem, including relevant MoP, MoHUA, NBC, CEA, IS 17017 / IEC 61851 requirements, state EV policies, DISCOM processes, electrical inspectorate approvals, RWA/society requirements, and fire-safety considerations.
- Exposure to EV charger manufacturers, electrical equipment manufacturers, CPOs/eMobility service providers, EPC firms, or energy/solar companies serving the buildings segment is preferred.
- Strong understanding of practical retrofit constraints and the technical and commercial realities of EV charging deployment in Indian buildings.
- Ability to work independently and translate technical assessments into clear, actionable recommendations for non-technical stakeholders.
