Sequretek runs its own data centre infrastructure. "Private cloud" here means virtualised infrastructure we own and operate ourselves on Proxmox and VMware — not a public cloud platform, and not a managed service.

There is no AWS or Azure work in this role. If your goal is public cloud experience or cloud certification, this role will not provide it. We state this upfront so you can decide before investing time in our process.

We are looking for engineers who want to own infrastructure end to end — from hypervisor to application — rather than consume managed services.

The role

You will help run and automate the infrastructure behind Percept, Sequretek's AI-powered cybersecurity platform, serving around 120 enterprise customers across banking, enterprise and defence.

Day to day: provision and maintain virtual machines, keep containerised microservices running, build and improve CI/CD pipelines, support the platform's databases, monitor system health, and troubleshoot across the OS, network and application layers. Hands-on throughout — you will see the whole stack and be expected to understand it.

What you will do

- Provision and maintain VMs on Proxmox and VMware — templates, snapshots, resource allocation, capacity monitoring
- Administer Ubuntu Linux and Windows Server — patching, hardening, service management, log and performance analysis
- Build and troubleshoot Docker containers for a microservices platform, including networking and volumes
- Develop and maintain Jenkins pipelines; manage GitLab repositories, branching and releases
- Configure Nginx as reverse proxy and load balancer, including TLS certificate management
- Support MongoDB, MySQL and Oracle operationally — health checks, backups, restores, user and connectivity management. Deep tuning and schema design sit with senior engineers
- Build and maintain Grafana dashboards and alerts for infrastructure and application health, and respond to what they surface
- Own backup and restore procedures, verify restores actually work, and support DR testing
- Automate repetitive operational work in Bash and Python
- Diagnose connectivity, DNS, firewall and routing issues
- Document what you build and maintain runbooks
