Job Title: Dental Assistant – Pediatric Dental Clinic

Job Summary
KidsDentist® is looking for a responsible, energetic, and compassionate Dental Assistant to join our pediatric dental team at our HSR Layout centre in Bengaluru.
The ideal candidate should be comfortable working with children of different age groups, have good chairside assisting skills, maintain high standards of infection control and sterilization, and contribute towards creating a calm, friendly, and positive dental experience for children and their parents.
Previous experience in a pediatric dental clinic, dental hospital, or busy multispecialty dental practice will be preferred.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare the dental operatory before each appointment, ensuring all required instruments, materials, disposables, and equipment are ready.
- Assist pediatric dentists efficiently during examinations and dental procedures, including preventive, restorative, pulp therapy, crowns, extractions, orthodontic and emergency procedures.
- Provide effective four-handed dentistry, including instrument transfer, suction and material preparation.
- Help children feel comfortable before and during treatment through a patient, reassuring, and child-friendly approach.
- Assist the dentist and clinical team with behaviour guidance and safe positioning of pediatric patients whenever required.
- Clean, disinfect, package, sterilize, store, and maintain dental instruments according to established infection-control protocols.
- Maintain proper sterilization records and clinical checklists as required by the clinic.
- Prepare materials such as restorative materials, impression materials, cements and other dental consumables as instructed by the dentist.
- Assist with digital dental radiographs under the dentist's direction, where appropriately trained and permitted.
- Maintain clean and organized treatment rooms between patients and ensure rapid and effective operatory turnover.
- Update and maintain patient records, treatment-related documentation and clinical information as instructed by the treating dentist.
- Provide parents and patients with basic post-operative and oral-hygiene instructions as directed by the dentist.
- Maintain strict patient confidentiality and professionalism at all times.
- Perform routine checks of dental chairs, suction systems, handpieces, sterilization equipment and other clinical equipment, and immediately report any issues.
- Monitor stocks of dental materials, disposables and sterilization supplies and inform the appropriate team member before supplies run low.
- Assist in maintaining emergency equipment, oxygen supplies and clinical emergency kits according to clinic protocols.
- Work closely with dentists, front-office staff and other team members to maintain smooth patient flow and minimize appointment delays.
- Follow all KidsDentist® clinical, infection-control, safety and patient-care protocols.
Qualifications
- Diploma/Certificate in Dental Assisting, Dental Hygiene or a related dental/healthcare field preferred.
- Candidates with relevant hands-on dental assisting experience may also be considered.
- 1–2 years of dental chairside assisting experience preferred.
- Previous experience in pediatric dentistry is highly desirable.
- Fresh candidates with appropriate dental training, excellent attitude and willingness to learn may also be considered.
Essential Skills
- Good knowledge of dental instruments, materials and chairside procedures.
- Strong understanding of infection control, sterilization and clinical hygiene.
- Ability to anticipate the dentist's requirements during procedures.
- Comfortable interacting with young children, anxious patients and parents.

- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced pediatric dental environment.

- Basic familiarity with computers, digital patient records and dental software is preferred.
Language Skills Good communication in English is required. Ability to communicate in Kannada and/or Hindi will be an advantage, particularly when interacting with children and parents.
