Role Summary The Data Protection & Cloud SME assesses backup, resilience and cloud-tiering posture. They review retention, immutability, air-gap and restore-testing evidence against recovery objectives, name recovery gaps, and shape how cloud tiers and object storage fit the target design feeding the risk & protection findings and the automation/AI-tiering recommendation.

Key Responsibilities

- Review backup/archive tooling, retention rules, copies, immutability, air-gap and restore-test evidence.

- Assess recovery objectives (RPO/RTO) and rank protection gaps by exposure.

- Shape cloud tiering and object-storage strategy across AWS/GCP/OCI (hot/cold, egress, retrieval).

- Contribute to the intelligent-tiering, automation and AI recommendation (policy-driven placement).

- Map licence entitlements,



renewal dates and tool overlap in backup/archive/tiering.

- Support BoM sizing for protection and cloud tiers and the standards/governance framework.

Must-Have Skills & Experience

- years in data protection / backup / DR with cloud infrastructure experience.

- Hands-on with enterprise backup & immutability (e.g. Commvault, Rubrik, Cohesity, Veeam) and air-gap/WORM.

- Solid cloud storage/tiering knowledge across AWS (S3/Storage Gateway), GCP, OCI; egress/retrieval economics.

- Restore-testing, cyber-resilience concepts (immutability, isolated recovery) and RPO/RTO design.

- Able to translate protection findings into ranked, evidence-based recommendations.
