Position Overview The Custodial Supervisor plays a key role in maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming campus environment. Directing daily frontline custodial operations, this position reports directly to the Facilities Coordinator and works under the strategic department leadership of the Facilities Manager.

The Custodial Supervisor oversees shift teams, conducts regular quality inspections, manages cleaning inventories, and ensures high standards across academic buildings, administrative offices, and student spaces.

Key Responsibilities 1. Team Leadership Supervision

- Direct, schedule, and supervise daily activities of the custodial team across designated shifts.
- Onboard, train, and mentor staff on cleaning protocols, floor care, equipment operation, and safety standards.
- Conduct regular quality-control inspections of campus facilities and provide actionable feedback to staff.
- Track attendance and shift coverage, assisting the Facilities Coordinator with performance reviews and timecard approvals.

2. Operations Campus Support

- Oversee daily routine cleaning, deep cleaning projects, floor maintenance, and waste/recycling management.
- Respond promptly to routine service tickets, urgent cleanup requests, and spill reports.
- Support logistics and custodial needs for special campus events, institutional functions, and facility rentals.
- Identify facility repair needs (e.g., plumbing issues, lighting, structural wear) and report them promptly to the Facilities Coordinator.

3. Inventory Equipment Management

- Monitor stock levels for custodial supplies, tools, and chemicals; issue requests to the Facilities Coordinator to ensure timely reordering.




- Ensure all cleaning machinery (auto-scrubbers, buffers, vacuums) is maintained, safely operated, and properly stored.
- Participate in supply audits to assist the Facilities Coordinator and Facilities Manager with department budget tracking.

4. Safety, Compliance Standards

- Enforce OSHA guidelines, hazardous materials protocols (Safety Data Sheets / SDS), and institutional safety rules.
- Ensure proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) across all team members.
- Align daily team practices with safety goals set by the Facilities Manager.

Qualifications Skills Required:

- Experience: 3+ years of commercial, institutional, or educational custodial experience, with at least 12 years in a supervisory or team lead role.
- Education: High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Technical Knowledge: Strong foundation in commercial cleaning procedures, floor restoration, chemical handling (SDS), and equipment safety.
- Communication: Clear verbal and written skills to coordinate effectively with team members, campus staff, faculty, and leadership.
- Computer Skills: Basic proficiency in email, digital timekeeping, and campus ticketing/work-order software.
- Preferred:
- Prior supervisory experience in a higher education or large school campus environment.
- Knowledge of sustainable/green cleaning practices and waste diversion initiatives.
- Bilingual capabilities (tailored to staff demographics, if applicable).

Physical Demands Working Conditions

- Ability to stand, walk, bend, climb stairs, and lift up to 50 lbs across large campus grounds.
- Exposure to cleaning chemicals, machinery noise, and outdoor weather conditions when moving between campus facilities.
- Flexibility to work wide-ranging shifts (mornings, evenings, weekends) during peak event schedules, semester transitions, or unexpected emergency call-outs.
