Role Purpose

Responsible for preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates for electrical products, projects, tenders, and customer enquiries. The role involves analyzing technical requirements, preparing BOQ/BOM-based costing, obtaining vendor prices, evaluating project costs, and supporting the Sales and Project teams in achieving profitable business.

Key Responsibilities

- Prepare detailed cost estimates and quotations for electrical products, projects, and customer enquiries.

- Study RFQs, technical specifications, drawings, BOQs, BOMs, and tender documents to understand project requirements.

- Obtain and analyze quotations from vendors for electrical materials, components, equipment, and services.

- Coordinate with Sales, Design/Engineering, Procurement, Projects, Production, and Finance teams for accurate costing.

- Prepare BOQ/BOM-based costing, including material, labor, fabrication, testing, transportation, installation, and other project-related costs.

- Analyze historical costing, market prices, vendor quotations, and project data to improve cost accuracy.

- Calculate selling prices, gross margins, mark-ups, and profitability as per company guidelines.

- Identify cost-saving opportunities through alternate materials, vendors, specifications, and value-engineering options.

- Prepare commercial comparisons and support the Sales team during negotiations with customers.

- Review and validate vendor quotations, price revisions, and commercial terms.





- Maintain costing databases for electrical materials, components, vendors, and standard items.

- Support tender costing and commercial submissions within defined timelines.

- Track changes in material prices and their impact on project/product costing.

- Assist in preparing revised quotations for scope changes, price variations, and customer requirements.

- Ensure costing follows approved company pricing policies, approval matrices, and commercial guidelines.

- Maintain proper documentation and records of quotations, cost sheets, vendor prices, and approvals.

- Provide management with costing analysis, margin reports, and commercial insights whenever required.

Key Skills & Competencies

- Strong knowledge of electrical materials, components, equipment, and project requirements.

- Valuable understanding of BOQ, BOM, drawings, specifications, and electrical terminology.

- Strong analytical and numerical skills with attention to detail.

- Ability to prepare detailed cost sheets and commercial quotations.

- Good understanding of material costing, labor costing, overheads, margins, and profitability.

- Strong vendor coordination and negotiation skills.

- Proficiency in MS Excel and costing/ERP systems.

- Good communication and coordination skills.

- Ability to work under tight deadlines and manage multiple RFQs/tenders simultaneously.

- Strong problem-solving and commercial awareness.
