Business Head Operations, P&L; & Growth

Company: Wizzride Technologies Pvt. Ltd.

Location: Siliguri, West Bengal

Employment Type: Full-time

Experience: 1018 years

Role Level: Senior Leadership / Business Head

Industry: Mobility / Travel / Transportation Technology

About Wizzride

Wizzride Technologies Pvt. Ltd. is a mobility-tech company focused on solving real-world intercity and regional transportation challenges, particularly across the North East and Himalayan region.

We operate a technology-enabled shared mobility platform connecting destinations such as Siliguri, Bagdogra, Gangtok, Namchi, Jorethang, Darjeeling, Kalimpong, Shillong, Guwahati and other regional markets.

Our business combines technology, transportation operations, customer experience, sales, and on-ground execution.

We are a growing organisation with approximately 20 corporate employees, supported by our operational network of drivers and vehicle partners.

We are now looking for a senior business leader who can take ownership of the business and help Wizzride move into its next phase of growth.

About the Role

We are looking for a Business Head / General Manager Operations & Growth who can eventually grow into a larger CEO-level leadership role within the organisation.

We deliberately do not want to hire someone simply because they have held a "CEO" title elsewhere.

This role is for someone who can actually run a business understand the numbers, drive revenue, manage operations, build teams, enter new markets, solve problems and take ownership of outcomes.

The person will work closely with the founders/directors and will be expected to gradually take ownership of a significant part of the company's day-to-day business.

This is a hands-on leadership role in a relatively small and growing company, not a conventional corporate executive position with a large hierarchy beneath it.

The successful candidate should be comfortable building systems from scratch, getting involved in execution, hiring people, travelling to markets, meeting customers/partners, analysing business numbers and personally solving problems when required.

Key Responsibilities

1. P&L; and Business Ownership

- Take ownership of the financial and operational performance of assigned business verticals/markets.
- Drive revenue growth while maintaining healthy margins.
- Monitor revenue, costs, contribution margins and profitability.
- Develop annual and quarterly business plans and budgets.
- Identify opportunities to improve unit economics and operational efficiency.
- Establish KPIs and performance dashboards for different functions.
- Make business decisions based on data rather than assumptions.
- Be accountable for achieving agreed business and profitability targets.

Note: Accounting and statutory compliance are largely handled by our external CA firm, supported by one in-house accounts employee. This role is therefore not an accounting/finance role. The focus is on business P&L; ownership and commercial decision-making.

1. Operations

- Take overall responsibility for day-to-day business operations.
- Improve operational processes, SOPs and service standards.
- Ensure reliable vehicle availability and route operations.
- Manage and improve relationships with vehicle owners, drivers and operational partners.
- Identify operational bottlenecks and implement solutions.
- Monitor customer experience and service quality.
- Build systems that allow the company to scale without proportionately increasing operational complexity.
- Ensure coordination between technology, operations, sales and customer support teams.

3. Business Growth & Expansion

- Identify new markets, routes and business opportunities.
- Evaluate the commercial viability of current locations/routes.
- Develop expansion plans and execute them.
- Conduct market research and competitor analysis.
- Develop partnerships with hotels, travel companies, corporates, local businesses and other relevant organisations.
- Build local distribution and sales networks.
- Take ownership of launching new markets from planning through execution.
- Develop strategies to increase utilisation, bookings and repeat customers.

4. Sales & Revenue Growth

- Develop and execute strategies to increase bookings and revenue.

- Build sales channels for different markets.
- Identify opportunities for B2B and B2C growth.
- Develop relationships with travel agents, hotels, corporates and other distribution partners.
- Establish sales targets and performance metrics.
- Build and manage an on-ground sales/distribution team where required.
- Analyse customer acquisition costs and channel profitability.
- Continuously identify new sources of revenue.

5. Marketing A major responsibility of this role will be to build Wizzride's marketing function. Currently, we are looking for someone who can take ownership of this area rather than simply manage an already established marketing department.

Responsibilities will include

- Develop Wizzride's overall marketing strategy.
- Build a small but effective internal marketing team.
- Hire and manage marketing professionals.
- Develop digital marketing capabilities.
- Build local/on-ground marketing teams and agents.
- Develop market-specific marketing strategies.
- Manage customer acquisition campaigns.
- Work with external agencies where appropriate.
- Develop brand positioning and communication.
- Measure marketing ROI and customer acquisition costs.
- Build strategies for both brand awareness and direct business generation.

We are particularly interested in someone who understands that marketing in a regional mobility business requires both digital and on-ground execution. 6. Hiring & Team Building

- Identify organisational requirements as the company grows.
- Recruit key employees across operations, sales, marketing and other functions.
- Build a high-performance culture.
- Set clear responsibilities and KPIs for team members.
- Train, mentor and develop employees.
- Build a strong second line of leadership.
- Identify underperformance early and take corrective action.
- Create systems where employees are accountable for measurable outcomes.

7. Technology & Process Improvement Wizzride is a technology-enabled mobility company.

The candidate does not need to be a software engineer, but should be comfortable working closely with technology teams and understanding how technology can improve:

- Customer acquisition
- Booking conversion
- Route planning
- Vehicle utilisation
- Demand forecasting
- Operational efficiency
- Customer experience
- Business reporting

The candidate should be able to translate business problems into technology/process requirements and work with the technology team to implement solutions. 8. Leadership & Strategy

- Work closely with the founders/directors on the company's overall strategy.

- Build accountability within the organisation.
- Take independent decisions within the agreed business framework.
- Regularly report business performance and key metrics to the founders/directors.
- Act as the central point of coordination between operations, sales, marketing, technology and management.
- Gradually take greater ownership of the organisation as performance and trust are established.

What We Are Looking For We are looking for someone who has already run a business, business unit, region, vertical or significant P&L;, rather than someone whose experience is limited to managing a single functional department.

The ideal candidate will have:

- 10+ years of professional experience.
- Experience managing a business, business unit, region or P&L.;
- Strong understanding of operations and execution.
- Experience in business development and revenue growth.
- Experience hiring and managing teams.
- Strong commercial and analytical ability.
- Ability to work with numbers and understand unit economics.
- Experience building teams/functions from the ground up.
- Robust communication and leadership skills.
- Ability to work independently with limited supervision.
- A strong bias towards execution.

Experience in mobility,

transportation, travel, logistics, hospitality, consumer internet, marketplace businesses, e-commerce or other operationally intensive businesses would be particularly relevant. What Kind of Person Will Succeed Here?

This is perhaps the most important part of the role.

We are looking for someone who:

Thinks like an entrepreneur, but has the discipline of a professional manager.

Someone who is comfortable moving between:

Strategy Numbers People Operations Sales Execution on the same day.

You may spend the morning analysing route profitability, the afternoon interviewing a marketing candidate, and the evening visiting a market or meeting an operational partner.

You should enjoy this.

This is not a role for someone who wants to delegate everything to a large team.

We need someone who is willing to get their hands dirty, especially during the initial phase.

Location Siliguri

This role is based in Siliguri, West Bengal.

We want to be very transparent about this.

Siliguri is not a Tier-1 metropolitan city, and this role is intended for someone who is genuinely interested in building something from Siliguri for the long term.

We are therefore particularly interested in candidates who:

- Are comfortable living and working in Siliguri.
- Have a genuine interest in the region.
- Are looking for a long-term leadership opportunity rather than a temporary posting.
- Do not view Siliguri simply as a stepping stone to a larger city.
- Are willing to travel extensively across the markets in which Wizzride operates.

Candidates who are primarily looking for a short-term role until they receive an opportunity in Mumbai, Delhi, Bangalore, Kolkata or another Tier-1 city may not be a good fit. Why Join Wizzride?

This is an opportunity to join a small but ambitious company at an important stage of its growth.

Unlike a large corporation, you will not be responsible for managing one small function within a massive organisation.

You will have the opportunity to directly influence:

- Revenue
- Profitability
- Operations
- New market expansion
- Marketing
- Hiring
- Customer experience
- Business strategy
- Organisational culture

You will work closely with the founders and have significant visibility into the company's decision-making. If successful, the role can evolve into a much larger leadership mandate, including a formal CEO/COO-level position, based on demonstrated performance and the company's growth.

Key Success Metrics The candidate will ultimately be evaluated on measurable business outcomes, including:

- Revenue growth
- Profitability / contribution margin
- Growth in bookings and customers
- New market/route launches
- Vehicle utilisation
- Customer experience
- Marketing ROI
- Sales productivity
- Operational efficiency
- Team quality and retention
- Ability to build scalable systems

Ideal Candidate Profile

Experience: 1018 years

Preferred background:

- Business Head
- General Manager
- Regional Head
- P&L; Head
- Operations Head with commercial responsibility
- Business Unit Head
- Startup leader
- Entrepreneur / Founder
- Senior leader in mobility, travel, logistics, hospitality, e-commerce or consumer businesses

Candidates from large organisations are welcome, provided they have demonstrated actual ownership of business outcomes and P&L;, rather than only functional responsibility.

Education

MBA / PGDM from a reputed institution is preferred but not mandatory.

Strong business experience and demonstrated results will be valued more than academic qualifications.

Compensation

Competitive compensation, commensurate with experience and demonstrated ability.

The compensation structure may include a performance-linked component, with significant weightage given to business growth and profitability.

Important

Please apply only if you are genuinely interested in working from Siliguri and building a business over the long term.

We are looking for a person who wants to build, not simply hold a senior designation.

If you have previously run a business/P&L; and believe you can take a growing regional mobility company to the next level, we would like to hear from you.
