Role Overview
We are seeking a strong Back End Developer to design and build reliable services and APIs that power HomeVerse. This is a hands-on product engineering role requiring sound software design, strong database and distributed systems fundamentals, and the ability to take features from technical design through production operation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, build, test, deploy, and operate scalable backend services and APIs supporting core product workflows.
- Develop clean, well-structured service architecture with strong attention to reliability, maintainability, security, and observability.
- Design and optimize data models, database access patterns, transactions, indexing, caching, and query performance.
- Build robust integrations with internal systems and third-party services, including authentication, retries, idempotency, rate limiting, and failure handling.
- Contribute to API design standards, service contracts, versioning, and backward compatibility.
- Work on asynchronous and event-driven workflows where appropriate, including queues, background processing, and message-based integration.
- Implement automated tests across unit, integration, and service boundaries and participate actively in code review.
- Partner with frontend, product, QA, and DevOps teams to deliver production-ready features end to end.
- Monitor and troubleshoot production systems, participate in incident resolution, and improve operational resilience.
- Contribute to engineering standards, technical documentation, architecture discussions, and mentoring of junior developers.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years of professional backend software engineering experience building and operating production systems.
- Strong expertise in at least one modern backend language and ecosystemPython, Java, Go, Node.js/TypeScript,
or equivalentwith deep proficiency preferred over superficial multi-language exposure.
- Strong experience designing RESTful APIs and service interfaces; GraphQL experience is an advantage where relevant.
- Solid understanding of relational databases, particularly PostgreSQL or MySQL, including schema design, indexing, transactions, query optimization, and concurrency.
- Experience with caching, asynchronous processing, queues, or event-driven architectures using technologies such as Redis, RabbitMQ, Kafka, SQS, or equivalents.
- Strong understanding of software design principles, modular architecture, error handling, idempotency, authentication, authorization, and API security.
- Experience with Docker and cloud deployment on AWS, GCP, or Azure.
- Experience with automated testing, CI/CD, Git workflows, code review, and production debugging.
- Working understanding of distributed systems fundamentals, including latency, retries, timeouts, consistency, and failure modes.
- Demonstrated ability to independently own services or significant features from design through production.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with microservices and cloud-native architectures, including Kubernetes or managed container platforms.
- Experience in fintech, lending, payments, real estate, or another domain with complex workflows and third-party integrations.
- Experience with observability stacks such as OpenTelemetry, Datadog, Grafana, Prometheus, ELK, or equivalents.
- Experience with workflow engines or orchestration frameworks for long-running business processes.
- Exposure to AI/LLM-enabled product integrations or AI platform services.
What This Role Offers The chance to own meaningful backend systems, influence service architecture and engineering standards, and work on complex product and integration problems from technical design through production.
