Responsibilities
Safe and Prompt Transportation
Operate the ambulance vehicle safely and efficiently under all weather and road conditions, adhering to all traffic laws and emergency protocols.
Respond to emergency calls swiftly and safely, ensuring timely arrival at the scene.
Transport patients to appropriate medical facilities while ensuring their comfort and safety during transit.
Vehicle Maintenance and Readiness
Conduct daily pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the ambulance (e.g., checking fuel, oil, tires, lights, brakes, siren, emergency equipment).
Ensure the ambulance is clean, fueled, and stocked with necessary medical supplies and equipment before and after each shift/call.
Report any mechanical issues, damage, or equipment malfunctions immediately to the appropriate personnel.
Maintain accurate logs of vehicle mileage, fuel consumption, maintenance, and repairs.
Assistance to Medical Staff
Assist paramedics and EMTs with lifting, moving,
and positioning patients onto and off the ambulance stretcher.
Help secure patients and equipment safely within the ambulance.
Provide basic assistance to medical personnel as directed during emergencies (e.g., holding equipment, navigating).
Communication and Documentation
Communicate effectively with dispatch, medical personnel, and hospital staff.
Accurately complete all necessary paperwork, including patient transport forms, mileage logs, and incident reports.
Maintain confidentiality of patient information.
Emergency Preparedness
Maintain a transparent understanding of emergency routes and hospital locations.
Familiarize self with the use and location of all on-board medical equipment.
Be prepared to respond to a variety of emergency situations.
