Microsoft 365 Architect Job Description

Role Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled Microsoft 365 Architect to design, implement, and optimize enterprise-grade digital workplace solutions built on the Microsoft 365 ecosystem.

This role will be responsible for driving architecture, governance, security, and adoption strategies across collaboration, identity, and productivity platforms.

Scope of responsibilities – according to the contract

- Assess client needs and recommend appropriate Microsoft 365 solutions.
- Plan and execute migrations to Microsoft 365 environments.
- Configure and customize Microsoft 365 services including SharePoint, Teams, OneDrive and Exchange Online.
- Acts as the primary contact for service escalations and issues troubleshooting, providing second level support and coordinating with third-level MS specialists. Resolves client connectivity, client software distribution, and mobile installation issues using Microsoft 365 support tools to investigate Office 365 service reports, auditing logs and third-party service reports.
- Performs ongoing administration and account maintenance of the Microsoft 365 tenant, reflecting the ability to solve problems quickly, develop workflow and processes for operation teams, and automate processes through writing and maintaining custom PowerShell scripts to remediate any open issues.
- Provide ongoing support, troubleshooting, and training to end-users.
- Ensure compliance with security, governance, and data protection policies.
- Document processes, create user guides, and deliver training sessions.




- Stay current with Microsoft 365 updates, features, and best practices.

- Design end-to-end M365 architecture including:
- Microsoft Teams
- SharePoint Online
- Exchange Online
- OneDrive

- Define Digital Workplace strategy aligned to business goals
- Create reference architectures, design standards, and governance models

2. Identity & Security - Positive to have

- Architect identity solutions using:
- Microsoft Entra ID (formerly Azure AD)

- Implement:

- Single Sign-On (SSO)
- Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA)
- Conditional Access policies

- Design Zero Trust architecture
- Ensure compliance with:

- ISO, GDPR, HIPAA (as applicable)

3. Collaboration & Productivity Solutions

- Lead rollout and optimization of:
- Teams (chat, voice, meetings)
- SharePoint (intranets, document management)

- Implement automation and workflows using:

- Power Automate
- Power Apps

- Drive user adoption and change management strategies

4. Migration & Modernization - Good to have

Lead migrations from:

- On-premises Exchange Exchange Online
- File servers SharePoint / OneDrive

- Plan and execute:

- Tenant-to-tenant migrations
- Hybrid deployments

- Optimize licensing and cost models

5. Governance & Compliance





- Define governance framework for:
- Teams sprawl control
- Data lifecycle management
- Retention and eDiscovery

- Implement:

- Data Loss Prevention (DLP)
- Information Protection (Sensitivity labels)

6. Integration & Ecosystem

- Enable API-based integrations and automation
- Design enterprise-wide digital workplace ecosystem

7. Performance & Optimization

- Monitor tenant health and usage analytics
- Optimize:
- Licensing costs
- Performance and scalability

- Provide continuous improvement roadmap

Required Skills & Experience

Core Skills

- 8–12+ years in IT, with 5–7+ years in M365 architecture
- Deep expertise in:
- M365 suite (Teams, SharePoint, Exchange, OneDrive)
- Identity & access management

- Strong understanding of:

- Cloud architecture (Azure)
- Networking fundamentals

Technical Expertise

- Experience with:
- Hybrid environments (on-prem + cloud)
- Power Platform (Power Apps, Power Automate)

- Knowledge of:

- Security & compliance frameworks
- Automation and scripting (PowerShell)

Certifications (Preferred)

- Microsoft Certified:
- Enterprise Administrator Expert
- Security Administrator
- Teams Administrator Associate
