Must-Have Hardware Asset Management (HAM) / ServiceNow HAM Professional

8+ years of experience in IT Asset Management, Hardware Asset Management, or ITSM Service Management operations.

Strong understanding of end-to-end hardware asset lifecycle, including planning, request, procurement, receiving, stockroom, deployment, transfer, maintenance, refresh, return, disposal, and retirement.

Hands-on experience in ServiceNow HAM / ITAM modules, including asset records, hardware models, lifecycle states, stockrooms, asset tasks, workflows, dashboards, and reporting.

Good knowledge of CMDB concepts and ability to align hardware asset records with Configuration Items, ownership, location, assignment, status, and operational relationships.

Experience in asset inventory validation, reconciliation, physical audits, data quality checks, exception management, and compliance evidence preparation.

Ability to coordinate with Service Desk, End User Computing, Field Services, Procurement, Finance, Security, CMDB, Change, Incident, and vendor teams.

Knowledge of ITIL-aligned processes, including Incident, Request Fulfilment, Change, Problem, Configuration, Knowledge, and Continual Service Improvement.

Experience in warranty, lease, AMC, support contract, refresh, and end-of-life / end-of-support tracking for hardware assets.

Valuable understanding of asset tagging, barcoding, stockroom controls, lost / stolen asset handling, secure disposal, data wipe evidence, and audit compliance.

Ability to prepare HAM KPI reports, executive dashboards, inventory accuracy reports, aging reports, compliance reports, and governance packs.





Strong analytical, communication, stakeholder management, documentation, problem-solving, and continual improvement skills.

SN Responsibility of / Expectations from the Role

1 Own and manage the end-to-end Hardware Asset Management lifecycle across the ITSM / Service Management ecosystem.

2 Maintain accurate hardware asset records in ServiceNow HAM / ITAM, ensuring proper status, ownership, location, assignment, model, cost, warranty, and lifecycle details.

3 Drive asset request, procurement coordination, receiving, tagging, stockroom control, deployment, transfer, refresh, return, retirement, and disposal processes.

4 Ensure alignment between hardware asset records and CMDB Configuration Items by coordinating with CMDB, Discovery, endpoint, infrastructure, and support teams.

5 Conduct periodic inventory audits, reconciliations, data quality reviews, compliance checks, and corrective actions to improve asset accuracy and audit readiness.

6 Track warranty, AMC, lease, contract, end-of-life, end-of-support, refresh, and replacement schedules to reduce operational and compliance risk.

7 Support Incident, Request, Change, and Problem Management processes by providing asset information, ownership details, lifecycle status, and impact-related inputs.

8 Prepare and publish HAM governance dashboards, KPI reports, inventory health reports, aging reports, exception reports, and management updates.

9 Identify opportunities for automation, workflow optimization, process improvements, cost control, risk reduction, and continual service improvement across HAM operations.
