Principal Consultant REACH & Data Architecture Enablement

Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced Principal Consultant with strong expertise in REACH (Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation and Restriction of Chemicals) regulations to lead and facilitate cross-functional workshops. The role focuses on building regulatory, business, data, and architecture knowledge across stakeholders, while driving practical improvements in systems, code, and data processes.

This consultant will act as a subject matter expert (SME), facilitator, and transformation driver, ensuring knowledge transfer, structured documentation, and actionable outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

1. Workshop Facilitation & Knowledge Building

- Design and lead REACH-focused workshops for cross-functional stakeholders (business, IT, data, regulatory, and architecture teams).
- Build shared understanding across:
- Regulatory knowledge (REACH requirements, compliance implications)
- Business processes and use cases
- Data flows, lineage, and ownership
- System architecture and integrations

- Use structured frameworks, case studies, and real examples to enable collaborative learning.
- Ensure workshops are engaging, outcome-oriented, and actionable.

2. Regulatory Expertise (REACH)

- Provide expert guidance on REACH compliance requirements, including:
- Substance registration and reporting
- Data requirements and traceability
- Regulatory impact on business processes and systems

- Translate regulatory requirements into business and data requirements.
- Ensure alignment between regulatory needs and digital/data solutions.

3. Data & Architecture Enablement





- Assess current data landscape, architecture, and systems supporting REACH compliance.
- Identify gaps across:
- Data quality and completeness
- Data lineage and governance
- System integrations

- Recommend improvements to:

- Data models and pipelines
- Architecture design
- Technology stack (where relevant)

4. Documentation & Knowledge Artifacts

- Create comprehensive documentation, including:
- Workshop outputs and summaries
- Business process maps
- Data lineage and architecture diagrams
- Regulatory interpretation documents

- Ensure all outputs are:

- Clear, structured, and reusable
- Accessible to both technical and non-technical stakeholders

5. Continuous Improvement & Implementation

- Identify and drive improvement opportunities across:
- Code (quality, efficiency, maintainability)
- Data pipelines and models
- System build and deployment processes

- Collaborate with engineering and data teams to ensure recommendations are implemented.
- Track and measure improvements in terms of:

- Data quality
- Compliance readiness
- Operational efficiency

6. Stakeholder Engagement

- Act as a bridge between business, regulatory, and technical teams.
- Facilitate alignment and decision-making across stakeholders.




- Communicate complex regulatory and technical topics in a clear, business-friendly way.

Required Skills & Experience

Mandatory

- Strong expertise in REACH regulations and regulatory compliance frameworks
- Proven experience in leading workshops and stakeholder facilitation
- Deep understanding of:
- Data management and governance
- Data lineage and metadata concepts
- Enterprise architecture principles

- Experience translating regulatory requirements into data and system solutions
- Excellent documentation and communication skills

Preferred

- Experience in chemical, FMCG, or life sciences industries
- Familiarity with data platforms (e.g., Databricks, data lakes, Unity Catalog, etc.)
- Exposure to data lineage tools and frameworks
- Knowledge of Agile delivery and transformation programs
