About the Role

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Apigee Developer to join our API Management and Integration team. The ideal candidate will have hands-on expertise in designing, developing, securing, deploying, and managing APIs using the Google Apigee API Management Platform (Apigee Edge and/or Apigee X). The candidate will play a key role in building scalable API solutions, implementing security policies, enabling digital transformation initiatives, and supporting enterprise-wide API programs.

Key Responsibilities

- Design, develop, and deploy API proxies using Apigee Edge/Apigee X.
- Create and configure API proxy flows, policies, shared flows, target endpoints, and reusable components.
- Implement API security mechanisms including:
- OAuth 2.0
- API Key Validation
- TLS/SSL
- SAML
- Token Management
- Threat Protection Policies

- Configure traffic management policies such as:

- Rate Limiting
- Spike Arrest
- Quota Enforcement
- Caching

- Develop and maintain JavaScript-based custom policies and gateway scripts within Apigee.
- Design and implement API error handling, logging, monitoring, and analytics solutions.
- Set up and manage Apigee Integrated Developer Portal, developer onboarding, subscription management, and API product lifecycle management.
- Participate in architecture discussions and recommend best practices for API security, governance, scalability, and performance optimization.
- Collaborate with backend development teams to expose REST and SOAP services securely through Apigee.
- Configure and support API deployment across various Apigee environments including SaaS, Hybrid, and OPDK.
- Automate API deployment and release processes using CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, Git, Maven, and GitHub.




- Create technical documentation, best practice guidelines, API standards, and operational runbooks.
- Troubleshoot production issues and ensure high availability and reliability of API platforms.

Preferred Skills

- Experience with IBM API Connect.
- Knowledge of Software AG/WebMethods and IBM DataPower.
- Experience with Kong API Gateway.
- Understanding of Kubernetes, OpenShift, and cloud-based deployments.
- Exposure to Apigee Hybrid, Envoy Proxy, and Istio Service Mesh.
- Knowledge of Drupal-based Developer Portal development.
- Experience configuring and managing Apigee Analytics and Reporting.
- Apigee certifications will be an added advantage.

Qualifications

- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related discipline.
- 4 to 8 years of overall IT experience with strong expertise in API Management and Integration technologies.
- Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments using tools such as Jira or RTC.
