Role & responsibilities

- Lead the engineering organization responsible for BicDB, our high-performance distributed database and application infrastructure platform.
- Own architecture, reliability, performance, security, testing, release engineering, and technical roadmap.
- Build and mentor a world-class team of database, distributed-systems, storage, search, and infrastructure engineers.
- Drive rigorous benchmarking and compatibility work against established systems such as PostgreSQL, Redis, Tantivy, Kafka, and RabbitMQ.
- Establish engineering standards for correctness, adversarial testing, crash recovery, security, observability, and long-term maintainability.
- Turn production workloads and failures into measurable improvements, regression tests, and durable engineering knowledge.
- Work closely with the Carrier, Sentinel, search, medical, and business-platform teams as BicDB becomes the common infrastructure underneath our products.
- Prepare the platform for external developers and enterprise customers, including documentation, LTS releases, supportability, and open-source/community readiness.

Preferred candidate profile





- Deep experience with databases, distributed systems, storage engines, search engines, or similarly performance-critical infrastructure.
- Strong systems programming background; Rust experience is highly desirable.
- Excellent understanding of concurrency, transactions/MVCC, replication, query execution, indexing, networking, persistence, and failure recovery.
- Comfortable reading unfamiliar systems code, profiling real workloads, questioning assumptions, and benchmarking against best-in-class implementations.
- Pragmatic rather than dogmatic: willing to adopt proven ideas, discard elegant ideas that lose in measurement, and optimize for correctness first.
- Experience leading senior engineers while remaining technically hands-on.
- Comfortable working in an unusually rapid AI-assisted engineering environment, where implementation velocity is high and verification discipline is essential.
- Most importantly: the judgment to know when a result looks wrong, stop, inspect the raw data, and find out why.
