A university dispensary nurse provides primary healthcare, manages emergency medical care, promotes student and staff wellness, and maintains health records on campus. They treat minor injuries, dispense basic medicines, coordinate referrals, and educate the campus community on health issues like disease prevention and mental health.
Core Healthcare Duties :
- First aid: Treat cuts, burns, sprains, and minor sports injuries.
- Assess illness: Check symptoms for fevers, colds, or stomach bugs.
- Give medicine: Provide approved over-the-counter or basic prescription drugs.
- Refer patients: Send severe cases to local hospitals or specialists.
Emergency Care :
- Manage crisis: Respond fast to severe allergic reactions, asthma attacks, or faintness.
- Call help: Contact ambulance services during major medical emergencies.
- First response:
Perform CPR or use first-aid gear until doctors arrive.
Health Promotion:
- Run campaigns: Lead wellness drives on sleep, nutrition, and hygiene.
- Prevent disease: Offer vaccinations like flu shots or travel vaccines.
- Mental health support: Spot early signs of stress and guide students to counselors.
Administrative Tasks:
- Keep records: Log patient visits, treatments, and medicine inventory safely.
- Ensure safety: Follow health rules to keep the clinic clean and secure.
- Write reports: Track campus illness trends for university leaders.
This will be full time role, with rotational shifts and complimentary stay and food in the university campus.
