PLANT MANAGER (Chemicals/Plastics)

- Responsible for optimizing production yields and managing site budgets. You will direct all day-to-day operations, including production scheduling, preventive maintenance, quality assurance, regulatory compliance, environmental compliance and a zero-harm safety environment.

Key Responsibilities

1. Production & Operational Excellence

F Direct Daily Operations: Oversee all processing, compounding, blending, molding, and packaging workflows to meet customer demand.

F Optimize Yields: Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to maximize throughput while minimizing raw material scrap and chemical waste.

F Continuous Improvement:



Implement Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma initiatives to reduce downtime and eliminate process bottlenecks.

F Supply Chain Coordination: Collaborate with logistics and procurement teams to manage inventory levels of bulk chemicals, resins, and additives.

2. Safety, Health, and Environment (HSE)

F Enforce Safety Protocols: Maintain strict compliance with OSHA, EPA, and local hazardous material regulations to ensure zero-harm facility goals.

F Waste Management: Oversee the safe operation of effluent treatment plants (ETP) and emission control systems.

F Risk Mitigation: Lead root cause analysis (RCA) investigations for any operational deviations, spills, or safety near-misses.

3. Financial & Quality Management

F Budgetary Control: Formulate and execute the annual plant operating budget, controlling fixed and variable manufacturing costs.

F Capital Expenditures (CapEx): Evaluate and justify equipment upgrades, plant automation systems, and facility expansion projects.

F Quality Assurance: Uphold strict quality standards (such as ISO 9001) to achieve zero customer complaints and ensure product purity or component tolerances.

4. Team Leadership & Administration

F Workforce Development: Direct and coach department heads, including supervisors, production engineers, and maintenance managers.

F Community & Government Relations: Act as the primary site liaison for local environmental agencies, emergency responders, and corporate stakeholders.

Preferred candidate profile

BE In Chemical Engineering or Plastics Engineering or Polymer Science or a highly related technical field with 12-20 years of experience & possesses deep technical knowledge of continuous chemical processes or or plastics manufacturing facility combined with solid leadership skills to drive a culture of continuous improvement.

Technical Skills

1) Process Expertise: Comprehensive understanding of continuous processing, batch chemical reactions, or plastics conversion technologies.

2) Regulatory Knowledge: Strong familiarity with hazardous chemical handling, Process Safety Management (PSM), and environmental licensing procedures.

3) Software Proficiency: Hands-on experience with Enterprise Asset Management (EAM) platforms, ERP software (like SAP), and data-driven process control tools.

Soft Skills

1) Leadership: Exceptional team building and conflict-resolution capabilities across multi-shift, cross-functional workforces.

2) Problem-Solving: Proven aptitude for analytical troubleshooting using methods like 5 Whys, 8D, or Fishbone analysis.

3) Communication: Strong interpersonal skills to effectively relay safety protocols and operational metrics to both line workers and executive.
