Experience: 5-7 Years

Location: Remote

Department: Center of Excellence

Job type : Full time

No of working days : 5 Days

Role Summary

We are looking for a detail-oriented and technically strong Engineer who thoroughly understands the shop-floor realities of custom equipment manufacturing. The ideal candidate will act as the bridge between engineering documentation, on-ground manufacturing and digital project execution.

Your core responsibility will be to read Production Drawings and ITPs/QAPs, and translate them into highly granular Manufacturing Schedules and Control Plans on the Venwiz platform. You must have a strong grasp of core manufacturing processes - specifically Welding, Casting, Forging, Machining and assembly - along with foundational Project Management principles.

Beyond technical scheduling, you will serve as the primary communication link with vendors- requiring excellent professional email etiquette, strong negotiation skills, and the ability to logically persuade vendors to meet critical deadlines.

Key Responsibilities

1. Decoding Engineering & Quality Documents:

- Read and accurately interpret complex Production Drawings, General Arrangement (GA) drawings, and Bill of Materials (BOMs).
- Thoroughly analyze unpriced purchase orders, Technical data sheets, Quality Assurance Plans (QAP) and Inspection & Test Plans (ITP)

2. Granular Level 4 Scheduling:

- Break down high-level project milestones into day-by-day shop-floor activities based on the specific manufacturing method required. Refer examples below :
- Metal Fabrication: Material Marking Cutting/Beveling Fit-up Root Run Back-chipping Final Weld NDT
- Equipment integration : Engineering Procurement Fabrication Assembly Testing Packing Dispatch

3. Applying Project Management Basics:

- Build logical schedules using Critical Path Method (CPM),

ensuring correct use of Predecessors and Successors (Finish-to-Start, Start-to-Start).
- Clearly separate "Document Submission" from "Approval", and "PO Placement" from "Material Receipt & QC" for engineering and procurement phases.
- Identify and use parallel work opportunities to shorten project timelines by running suitable manufacturing steps together. For example ,while machining of components is ongoing, the team can start surface-treatment planning and book painting slots in advance

4. Expediting & Risk Mitigation:

- Audit vendor-submitted schedules to identify missing steps, "false dependencies," or unrealistic cycle times.
- Track planned vs. actual progress across multiple vendors and flag risks early (e.g., "The casting is delayed by 3 days, which will push the CNC machining start date").
- Logically persuade and negotiate with vendors to crash schedules, adopt parallel processing, and commit to recovery plans when projects slipall while maintaining healthy B2B relationships.

Required Skills & Competencies

Technical Knowledge:

- Manufacturing Processes: Deep, practical understanding of heavy metal fabrication, Machining, assemblies, castings, Forgings and other manufacturing methodologies and their typical constraints.
- Production methods: Exposure to batch production & one-off production methods.
- Drawing & GD&T; Expertise: High proficiency in reading mechanical production drawings, weld symbols, and interpreting GD&T; symbols (Flatness, Concentricity, True Position, Runout) to gauge manufacturing difficulty and time.

- Project Management Basics: Clear understanding of lead/lag times, critical path identification, dependencies and baseline vs. actual tracking.
- Testing & Compliance: Familiarity with standard NDT methods (RT, UT, PT, MT) and Material Test Certificates (MTCs).
- Data center exposure: Experience with data center construction and equipment such as substations, fan wall units, Air handling units is an added advantage

Software Proficiency:

- Scheduling Tools: Hands-on experience with MS Project (MSP) or Primavera P6 or any other similar PM software
- Data Handling: Robust Excel / Google sheet skills for managing large BOMs and project data.
- New age softwares and AI tools: Proactive adoption of new-age softwares and AI tools to drive faster, more efficient workflows.

Behavioral Traits:

- Hyper-Granular Thinking: The ability to visualize the step-by-step physical transformation of raw material into a finished product.
- Assertive Communication: Confidence to question a vendors logic (e.g., "Why can't you start fabrication of 2nd batch of transformer cores while the 1st batch of transformers is waiting for client inspection? What is stopping you from keeping those sub-assemblies ready?")
- Communication & Collaboration : You will collaborate (both in person and virtually) with other members in CoE, product, business, client, vendors, interns etc. and hence will be responsible to drive business outcome across multiple stakeholders.

Preferred Background

- Education: B.E. / B.Tech in Mechanical, Electrical, Production, or Industrial Engineering.
- Experience: 5 to 7 years of hands-on experience in Manufacturing Engineering, design engineering, Production Planning at an industrial machinery, data center equipment, EPC, or heavy engineering manufacturer in India.
