Job Summary

We are looking for an experienced and knowledgeable Optometrist Trainer to provide technical and practical training to Optometrists and optical store teams. The role will be responsible for improving clinical skills, product knowledge, customer handling, and overall optical store performance through structured training and on-the-job coaching.

Key Responsibilities

- Conduct regular training programs for Optometrists and optical store staff.
- Train employees on eye testing procedures, refraction techniques, subjective and objective testing, and basic eye health screening.
- Provide practical training on optical equipment and ensure proper usage.
- Train teams on frames, lenses, coatings, contact lenses, and other optical products.
- Conduct induction and refresher training for new and existing employees.
- Evaluate Optometrists' technical knowledge and practical skills through assessments and store visits.
- Identify training gaps and prepare appropriate training modules.
- Conduct on-the-job coaching and provide constructive feedback to improve performance.
- Train staff on customer consultation, product recommendations, and professional communication.
- Ensure Optometrists follow standard operating procedures and clinical protocols.
- Monitor training effectiveness through performance assessments and feedback.
- Coordinate with Store Operations and HR teams to identify training requirements.
- Maintain training records, attendance, assessments, and performance reports.




- Stay updated with the latest developments in optometry, lenses, optical technology, and industry practices.

Required Skills

- Strong knowledge of Optometry and Optical Retail Operations.
- Excellent knowledge of refraction and eye examination procedures.
- Good understanding of ophthalmic lenses, frames, coatings, and optical products.
- Solid presentation and training skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to explain technical concepts in a simple and practical manner.
- Good leadership, coaching, and mentoring abilities.
- Willingness to travel to different stores for training and assessments.

Educational Qualification

- D.Optom/B.Optom / Bachelor of Optometry from a recognised institution.
- Additional certifications in training, optometry, or optical retail will be an advantage.

Experience

- 8-12 years of experience as an Optometrist, preferably with experience in optical retail.
- Prior experience in training, mentoring, or team handling will be preferred.

- Training completion and coverage across stores.
- Improvement in Optometrist technical competency.
- Training assessment scores.
- Compliance with clinical and operational SOPs.
- Improvement in customer service and product knowledge.
- Store-level performance improvement after training.

Preferred Candidate Profile

A passionate Optometrist with strong technical knowledge, excellent communication skills, and the ability to train, mentor, and develop Optometrists across multiple optical stores.
