Job Description AR Manager (U.S. Healthcare)

Position

AR Manager U.S. Healthcare Revenue Cycle Management

Job Summary

The AR Manager will be responsible for managing and optimizing the Accounts Receivable function for U.S. healthcare clients. The role involves overseeing insurance and patient receivables, denial management, collections, cash flow, aging reduction, and overall revenue-cycle performance. The manager will lead AR teams, ensure adherence to client and regulatory requirements, and drive process improvements to maximize collections and reduce outstanding balances.

Key Responsibilities

- Manage day-to-day AR operations for U.S. healthcare accounts.
- Lead, coach, and develop AR specialists, team leaders, and collection teams.
- Monitor AR aging, DSO, collection rates, denial rates, and cash realization.
- Oversee follow-up on unpaid and underpaid claims with commercial payers, Medicare, Medicaid, and other insurance companies.
- Ensure timely resolution of claim denials, rejections, underpayments, and payment discrepancies.
- Analyze aging reports and develop action plans for high-value and aging accounts.
- Monitor payer trends and identify root causes of delayed or denied payments.
- Coordinate with billing, coding, payment posting, denial management, and client teams to resolve AR issues.
- Review team productivity, quality, accuracy, and SLA/KPI performance.
- Prepare and present AR performance reports and dashboards to senior management and clients.
- Identify opportunities to improve collection processes, reduce AR days, and increase cash flow.
- Handle escalated payer and client issues and ensure timely resolution.
- Conduct regular performance reviews, team meetings, and process-training sessions.
- Ensure compliance with applicable U.S. healthcare regulations, payer guidelines, and client policies.
- Support audits and maintain appropriate documentation and controls.




- Drive continuous improvement initiatives, automation, and standardization of AR processes.

Required Qualifications

- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Healthcare Administration, or a related field.
- 7–10+ years of experience in U.S. healthcare AR/R##C, with at least 3–5 years in a managerial or leadership role.
- Strong knowledge of U.S. healthcare billing and revenue-cycle processes.
- Experience handling insurance AR, denials, appeals, underpayments, and aging accounts.
- Strong understanding of Medicare, Medicaid, commercial insurance, and payer processes.
- Experience managing large AR teams and multiple client accounts.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder-management skills.
- Proficiency in Excel and AR/R##C reporting and analytics tools.
- Ability to analyze trends, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions.

Preferred Skills

- Experience with healthcare RCM/BPO operations.
- Knowledge of EOB/ERA, CPT, HCPCS, ICD, and payer terminology.
- Experience with RCM platforms such as Epic, Cerner, Athenahealth, NextGen, or similar systems.
- Six Sigma, Lean, or other process-improvement experience is a plus.
- Experience managing U.S. clients and participating in business reviews.
- Strong presentation and leadership skills.

Work Setting

- Full-time managerial position supporting U.S. healthcare revenue-cycle operations.
- May require flexibility to work in U.S. time zones/night shifts depending on business requirements.
- Role may involve interaction with U.S. healthcare providers, payers, clients, and internal operational teams.
