Technical Engineer / Plant Technician RO, STP & ETP

About the Role
We are looking for a hands-on Technical Engineer / Plant Technician who can independently handle the assembly, fabrication, installation, commissioning, design support and troubleshooting of water and wastewater treatment plants.
The candidate should have practical knowledge of RO Plants, STP, ETP, WTP, filtration systems, pumps, piping, electrical panels and dosing systems and should be willing to travel to project sites as required.
Key Responsibilities
1. RO Plant Assembly & Installation
- Assemble and install RO plants as per approved drawings and specifications.
- Install RO membranes, pressure vessels, cartridge filters, dosing systems, pumps, flow meters, pressure gauges, valves and piping.
- Carry out piping, fitting, tubing and equipment connections.
- Assist in electrical panel installation and equipment wiring.
- Conduct pressure testing, flushing and commissioning of RO systems.
- Troubleshoot problems related to pumps, membranes, pressure, flow, TDS and water quality.
- Carry out preventive and corrective maintenance of RO plants.
2. STP & ETP Design
- Prepare basic process designs for STP and ETP systems based on client requirements.
- Understand wastewater characteristics and select appropriate treatment processes.
- Prepare process flow diagrams (PFDs) and basic plant layouts.
- Calculate basic tank volumes, flow rates, pump capacities, aeration requirements and chemical dosing requirements.
- Assist in preparing equipment specifications and BOQs.
- Select suitable pumps, blowers, diffusers, filters, dosing systems, decanters and other treatment equipment.
- Coordinate with the design and project team for detailed engineering.
3. STP & ETP Installation & Commissioning
- Supervise and execute installation of STP/ETP plants at project sites.
- Coordinate installation of tanks, pumps, blowers, diffusers, piping, valves, electrical panels and other equipment.
- Ensure proper alignment and installation of mechanical equipment.
- Conduct testing and commissioning of treatment systems.
- Monitor plant performance during commissioning.
- Make necessary adjustments to aeration, chemical dosing, flow and other operating parameters.
- Train operators/clients in basic plant operation and maintenance.
4. Site Supervision
- Visit project sites for installation, commissioning, inspection and troubleshooting.
- Coordinate with civil, electrical and mechanical contractors.
- Read and understand engineering drawings and layouts.
- Ensure work is executed according to approved drawings and specifications.
- Prepare site progress reports and commissioning reports.
- Identify technical issues at site and provide practical solutions.
5. Maintenance & Troubleshooting
- Diagnose mechanical, electrical and process-related problems.
- Troubleshoot pumps, motors, blowers, dosing pumps, control panels, valves, pipelines and filtration systems.
- Monitor operating parameters such as pressure, flow, pH, TDS, turbidity, DO and other relevant parameters.
- Recommend corrective actions and preventive maintenance.
- Attend customer complaints and technical service calls.
Required Technical Skills
The candidate should have practical knowledge of:
- RO Plant assembly and operation
- STP and ETP treatment processes
- MBBR / SBR / ASP / FAB / MBR systems – knowledge preferred
- DMF, ACF, softener and filtration systems
- UF and UV systems
- Pumps and pumping systems
- Blowers and aeration systems
- Chemical dosing systems
- PVC/UPVC/CPVC/HDPE/MS/SS piping
- Valves and flow-control equipment
- Electrical control panels
- Basic electrical troubleshooting
- P&ID; / PFD / engineering drawings
- Basic hydraulic calculations
- Plant commissioning and troubleshooting
Educational Qualification
Preferred:
- Diploma / B.Tech / BE in Mechanical, Civil, Environmental, Chemical or Electrical Engineering
- ITI candidates with strong practical experience may also be considered.
Experience:
- 2–5 years of experience in water/wastewater treatment is preferred.
- Candidates with strong practical experience in RO/STP/ETP installation and commissioning may be considered even without a formal engineering degree.
Candidate Profile

Additional Advantage
Candidates having experience in any of the following will be preferred:
- Designing STP/ETP/RO plants
- Preparing BOQ and equipment specifications
- AutoCAD
- P&ID; preparation
- Water-quality testing
- GeM / government projects
- Industrial ETP projects
- Hospital STP/ETP projects
- Commercial RO/WTP projects
- PLC/control-panel knowledge
- Experience with MBBR, SBR or MBR systems
Job Requirements
- Willingness to travel within Assam and other parts of Northeast India.
- Willingness to work at project sites when required.
- Valid driving licence preferred.
- Good communication and documentation skills.
- Ability to independently handle technical assignments.
Key Performance Areas
The selected candidate will be evaluated on the ability to:
1. Assemble RO plants correctly and efficiently.
2. Execute STP/ETP installations with minimum supervision.
3. Understand and prepare basic treatment designs.
4. Troubleshoot plant/process problems.
5. Successfully commission plants.
6. Coordinate technicians, contractors and site activities.
7. Provide effective after-sales technical support.
8. Complete projects within the required time and technical specifications.
Compensation
Salary: 20,000 – 40,000 per month, depending on qualification, experience and technical capability.
Additional: Site travel allowance, accommodation and other applicable project-related expenses as per company policy.
Reporting
Reports To: Technical Head / Project Manager / Management
Preferred Candidate
A candidate who can personally work on the plant—not just supervise technicians—will be strongly preferred.
The ideal candidate should be capable of taking responsibility for a project from basic design and equipment selection through assembly, installation, commissioning and troubleshooting.
