The role in a gist:
As FlexiLoans enters the next orbit of growth, we are looking for people with the passion and hunger to make a dent in the MSME ecosystem. In this role, we are looking for a Manager – Month-End Controller to lead the Accounts Payable function and own the month-end close process end-to-end. The role covers team supervision along with independent ownership of month-end schedules, budgetary control, vendor/legal contract review, tax and audit compliance, and MIS reporting to leadership.
What we are looking for in the role:
- Lead the Accounts Payable team and day-to-day invoice processing, payment runs, reconciliations, and month-end entries; own the AP approval matrix; act as the escalation point for exceptions like vendor disputes and held invoices.
- Set team KPIs/SLAs and manage workload allocation and backups.
- Independently finalize AP month-end schedules, accruals, provisions, amortisation, and vendor liability reconciliations and drive automation across reconciliations and Tally/ERP workflows.
- Review budget variances and exceptions, working with department heads and Finance leadership on realignment.
- Review budget vs. actuals and cost schedules, coordinating with relevant teams for accurate reporting.
- Review vendor agreements and commercial contracts with Legal, keeping TDS treatment, GST classification, and entity details consistent before finalisation.
- Own AP-side tax compliance TDS deduction/classification and vendor master accuracy — support
- ITR/GST filings and liaise with the Tax; Compliance team on related notices and queries.
- Own management responses for AP-related ITGC points and coordinate AP-specific findings from statutory, internal, and NBFC audits.
- Review the trial balance (TB) for month-end trends and variances,
and review MIS before it is shared with leadership.
- Reconcile the Insurance CD balance and review its accounting treatment; reconcile the stamp duty
- Balance. Oversee reconciliation of petty cash, credit cards, and other ledger balances, ensuring accuracy and proper documentation.
- Review the salary JV file, ensuring department-wise accounting is accurate, with proper bonus booking and amortisation wherever applicable.
- Review base expense data for intangible asset capitalisation, covering salary and other expenses as needed.
- Conduct a detailed review of financials with supporting backups before month-end closure.
- Review vendor outstanding balances and open PR/PO items, ensuring timely clearance and resolution.
- Oversee the reimbursement process end-to-end, including verification, approvals, payment release, and timely accounting.
- Ensure timely follow-up and resolution of pending advances, documentation, and stakeholder queries.
- Ensure sensitive or related-party expenses are reviewed and reconciled appropriately.
- Ensure activity trackers are maintained and reviewed for timely completion of month-end tasks.
- Represent the AP function with Legal, Tax, Treasury, Procurement, and external auditors; prepare consolidated AP dashboards for leadership; keep AP documentation audit-ready.
Qualification & Experience:
- CA, CA-Inter, or MBA-Finance preferred.
- 6–9 years of experience in Accounts Payable/Finance operations, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role.
- Solid knowledge of P2P, month-end close, budgetary control, TDS/GST, and statutory compliance.
- Experience with ITGC/audit processes; NBFC/lending exposure preferred.
- Hands-on with Tally/ERP and advanced Excel.
- Strong people management and stakeholder coordination skills.
