What would you do We are seeking an experienced Inventory Cost Accounting qualified to own inventory valuation, cost accounting, inventory reconciliations, manufacturing accounting, inventory reporting, and month-end close activities for a Consumer Goods organization.
The role will partner closely with Supply Chain, Procurement, Manufacturing Operations, Contract Manufacturers, and Commercial Finance to ensure inventory accuracy, cost integrity, and compliance with internal controls. The successful candidate will focus on delivering inventory accounting processes ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting.
What are we looking for Required Qualifications
Education
- Chartered Accountant (CA), CMA, CPA, ACCA, CIMA or MBA Finance.
- Graduate/ Post Graduate in Commerce, Accounting, Finance, or related discipline.
Experience
- 5+ years of Inventory Accounting, Cost Accounting, Manufacturing Finance, or Supply Chain Finance experience.
- Experience in Consumer Goods, Manufacturing, Retail, or D2C organizations.
- Experience working with Contract Manufacturing environments preferred.
- Strong month-end close and balance sheet reconciliation experience.
- Experience supporting audits and inventory controls.
Technical Skills
- NetSuite ERP (preferred)
- SAP, Oracle, JDE, Dynamics, or similar ERP systems

. Order-to-Cash Inventory Accounting
- Review partially shipped sales orders and outstanding billing transactions.
- Reconcile shipment documentation, purchase orders, invoices, and billing records.
- Investigate and resolve invoicing discrepancies.
- Ensure accurate revenue and inventory accounting impacts are recorded.
7. Month-End Close Financial Reporting
- Prepare monthly inventory accounting entries and account reconciliations.
- Review inventory-related balance sheet and PL accounts.
- Analyze inventory movements, reserves, PPV, inventory write-offs, and manufacturing variances.
- Prepare global inventory reporting and management commentary.
- Support internal and external audit requirements.
Continuous Improvement Automation
- Identify automation opportunities across inventory accounting processes.
- Support the Business Controller to eliminate/ minimize manual efforts.

Roles and Responsibilities:
- . Inventory Accounting Reconciliations
- Perform monthly inventory reconciliations across warehouses, contract manufacturers, and third-party logistics partners.
- Reconcile Amazon (AMZ) inventory balances against NetSuite inventory records and ensure inventory ownership is accurately reflected in the books.
- Record inventory adjustment journal entries where discrepancies are identified.
- Review inventory-in-transit balances and ensure accurate accounting treatment.
- Upload and maintain inventory-by-location reporting for contract manufacturing and inventory operations teams.
- Investigate inventory variances and partner with Supply Chain to resolve root causes.
. Cost Accounting Inventory Valuation
- Monitor and validate inventory standard costs and product cost structures.
- Execute annual standard cost roll processes and inventory cost revaluation activities.
- Analyze Inventory Cost Revaluation (ICR) impacts and ensure proper accounting treatment.
- Review Zero-Cost Inventory reports and coordinate corrective actions with Supply Chain and Procurement teams.
- Conduct Purchase Price Variance (PPV) analysis and partner with Supply Chain to understand and resolve deviations.
- Ensure inventory valuation complies with company policy and accounting standards.
Manufacturing Contract Manufacturer Accounting
- Review completed manufacturing work orders and reconcile finished goods receipts with contract manufacturer production reports.
- Validate production quantities, pricing, yields, and inventory receipts.
- Investigate manufacturing variances and support inventory adjustments where required.
- Review aging manufacturing orders and coordinate closure or correction with Supply Chain teams.
- Support inventory controls for outsourced manufacturing operations
4. Inventory Reserves Disposals
- Review inventory disposal requests submitted by Supply Chain.
- Validate reason codes and accounting classification.
- Ensure appropriate treatment of reserve versus non-reserve inventory write-offs.
- Prepare and post inventory reserve and write-off journal entries.
- Provide supporting analysis for management approval and audit requirements
5. Procure-to-Pay Inventory Controls
- Review Accrued Purchases and Goods Received Not Invoiced (GRNI) balances.
- Investigate open purchase orders, partial receipts, unmatched invoices, and aged accruals.
- Partner with Procurement and Supply Chain teams to resolve exceptions.
- Prepare reconciliations and adjustment entries for month-end close.
