Job Summary
We are seeking a compassionate, responsible, and student-focused School Counsellor to support students emotional, social, behavioural, and academic wellbeing. The counsellor will provide age-appropriate guidance, individual and group counselling, and work closely with teachers and parents to create a safe and supportive school workplace.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide individual and group counselling to students as required.
- Identify and address students emotional, behavioural, social, and academic concerns.
- Conduct regular student wellbeing assessments and maintain appropriate records.
- Support students with stress, anxiety, peer relationships, self-esteem, adjustment, and academic concerns.
- Develop and conduct awareness sessions on mental wellbeing, life skills, relationships, bullying, and emotional development.
- Work collaboratively with teachers and parents to understand and support student needs.
- Assist students in developing effective coping, communication, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.
- Identify students requiring additional professional support and make appropriate referrals.
- Maintain strict confidentiality and follow school safeguarding and child-protection policies.
- Support students during critical or challenging situations in coordination with school management.
- Participate in parent-teacher meetings and provide professional guidance when required.
- Maintain counselling documentation and submit relevant reports to the school management.
- Contribute to creating a positive, inclusive, and emotionally safe school environment.
Requirements
- Master s degree in Psychology, Counselling Psychology, Clinical Psychology, or a related field.
- Relevant experience as a school counsellor or in an educational setting is preferred.
- Strong understanding of child and adolescent development.
- Excellent communication, listening, interpersonal, and counselling skills.
- Ability to maintain professional boundaries and confidentiality.
- Strong observation, documentation, and crisis-management skills.
- Knowledge of child safeguarding and school counselling practices.
