Position: AGM/DGM/GM – Stainless Steel Wire Rod Mill OperationsLocation: Indore – Pithampur PlantCompany: Shyam Metalics & Energy LimitedRole PurposeThe General Manager – Stainless Steel Wire Rod Mill Operations will lead end-to-end operations of the Stainless-Steel Wire Rod Mill at the Pithampur Plant. The role is responsible for achieving production targets with consistent quality, optimum cost, high safety standards, and continuous process improvement, aligned with Shyam Metalics’ operational excellence and growth objectives.Key ResponsibilitiesOperations & Production ManagementHead overall wire rod mill operations covering billet handling, reheating furnace, rolling, laying, cooling, coiling, finishing, and dispatch.Achieve daily, monthly, and annual production targets with optimum yield and throughput.Ensure availability and effective utilization of men, machines, and materials.Process Control & Quality AssuranceEnsure adherence to metallurgical and rolling process parameters for stainless steel grades.Drive improvements in product quality, surface finish, dimensional accuracy, and customer specifications.Work closely with Quality and Metallurgy teams to reduce rejections, improve yield, and ensure compliance with internal and customer standards.Maintenance & ReliabilityCoordinate with mechanical, electrical, and automation teams for preventive and breakdown maintenance.Improve equipment reliability, reduce downtime, and support modernization and debottlenecking initiatives.Safety, Health & Environment (SHE)Ensure strict compliance with safety, environmental,



and statutory norms.Promote a strong safety culture through audits, training, SOP adherence, and incident prevention.Ensure compliance with pollution control and sustainability norms.Cost Control & Efficiency ImprovementOptimize conversion cost, energy consumption, consumables, and spares.Implement continuous improvement initiatives such as TPM, Lean Manufacturing, and Kaizen.Support capex planning, commissioning, and stabilization of new equipment or process upgrades.People Leadership & DevelopmentLead, mentor, and develop a large team of engineers, supervisors, and operators.Set KPIs, conduct performance reviews, and drive skill upgradation and succession planning.Maintain high discipline, engagement, and productivity on the shop floor.Cross-functional CoordinationWork closely with Melt Shop, Maintenance, Quality, Commercial, Planning, and Logistics teams.Support production planning aligned with market demand and dispatch schedules.Qualifications & ExperienceB.E./B.Tech in Mechanical / Metallurgical / Production Engineering (Master’s preferred).15+ years of experience in steel rolling operations, with strong exposure to stainless steel wire rod mills .Proven experience in leading large operational teams in an integrated steel plant setting.Key CompetenciesStrong operational leadership and decision-making skillsDeep understanding of stainless-steel rolling processesSafety-driven mindset and compliance orientationCost consciousness and continuous improvement focusExcellent coordination and people management skills
