The Vice President – Manufacturing is a strategic leadership role responsible for driving end-to-end manufacturing operations, operational excellence, cost optimization, and sustainable growth across multiple plants or large-scale manufacturing facilities. This role demands a seasoned operations leader with deep expertise in production management, process excellence, capacity planning, and cross-functional collaboration to deliver world-class manufacturing performance aligned with business objectives.
The VP – Manufacturing will play a critical role in shaping the organization’s operational strategy, ensuring consistent delivery on safety, quality, cost, delivery, and productivity metrics while fostering a high-performance, continuous improvement culture.
Key Responsibilities
Manufacturing & Operations Leadership
- Lead and oversee end-to-end manufacturing operations including production, maintenance, quality, supply chain coordination, and plant performance.
- Define and execute long-term manufacturing and operations strategy aligned with business growth, scalability, and market demand.
- Drive operational excellence across plants through standardization, best practices, and performance benchmarking.
Operational Excellence & Productivity
- Champion Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, TPM, and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency, throughput, and cost competitiveness.
- Optimize capacity utilization, production planning, and resource allocation to meet demand while minimizing waste and downtime.
- Establish and monitor KPIs related to safety, quality, delivery, cost, and overall equipment effectiveness (OEE).
Quality, Safety & Compliance
- Ensure world-class safety standards and a zero-harm culture across all manufacturing locations.
- Maintain robust quality systems to ensure compliance with internal standards, customer requirements, and regulatory norms.
- Oversee statutory compliance related to factories, setting, health, and safety.
Cost Management & Profitability
- Drive cost reduction initiatives across materials, labor, energy, and overheads without compromising quality or safety.
- Lead capital expenditure planning, plant expansion, modernization, and automation initiatives to improve long-term competitiveness.
- Partner with finance and leadership teams to achieve margin and profitability targets.
People & Leadership Development
- Build, mentor, and lead strong plant leadership teams, fostering accountability, ownership, and operational discipline.
- Develop succession planning, leadership capability, and talent pipelines within manufacturing and operations.
- Promote a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous learning.
Cross-Functional & Strategic Collaboration
- Work closely with Supply Chain, R&D;, Quality, HR, and Sales teams to align manufacturing operations with customer and market needs.
- Act as a key member of the executive leadership team, contributing to enterprise-level strategy and decision-making.
Key Skills & Competencies
- Extensive expertise in manufacturing operations and large-scale plant management
- Strong understanding of Lean, Six Sigma, TPM, and operational excellence frameworks
- Proven ability to manage multi-plant or complex manufacturing environments
- Strategic thinking with strong execution and problem-solving skills
- Financial acumen with experience in cost control and capex management
- Exceptional leadership, stakeholder management, and change management capabilities
Qualifications
- Engineering degree (Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, or related field); MBA or advanced management qualification preferred
- 25–30 years of progressive experience in manufacturing and operations leadership roles
