Role & responsibilities

- Prepare the Operation Theatre, surgical instruments, equipment, and consumables before each surgical procedure.
- Assist surgeons, anesthetists, and nursing staff during surgical procedures as required.
- Arrange and maintain sterile surgical instruments, drapes, gowns, and other OT supplies according to the procedure.
- Follow strict aseptic and infection control practices to maintain a sterile workplace in the OT.
- Handle, clean, disinfect, and sterilize surgical instruments in coordination with the CSSD team.
- Check the availability and working condition of OT equipment, including electrocautery, suction apparatus, surgical lights, operating tables, and other equipment.
- Assist in the pre-operative preparation and positioning of patients while ensuring patient safety and comfort.
- Ensure the availability of appropriate surgical instruments, implants, sutures, consumables, and emergency equipment before procedures.
- Maintain accurate OT records and documentation, including surgery details, instrument usage, consumables, and equipment checks.
- Assist in surgical counts of instruments, needles, and swabs before, during, and after procedures as per hospital protocols.




- Monitor and maintain adequate OT inventory and report shortages or damaged instruments and equipment to the concerned authority.
- Assist during emergency and critical surgical procedures and respond promptly to the requirements of the surgical team.
- Follow proper biomedical waste segregation and disposal procedures.
- Coordinate with CSSD, Pharmacy, Stores, Nursing, Anesthesia, and other departments to ensure smooth OT operations.
- Maintain cleanliness, safety, and readiness of the Operation Theatre and related areas.
- Report any equipment malfunction, infection-control concern, or safety issue immediately to the concerned supervisor.
- Participate in quality improvement, infection control, audits, and hospital accreditation activities related to the OT.
- Maintain strict patient confidentiality, professional conduct, and adherence to hospital SOPs.

Qualification - B.Sc operation theatre and anaesthesia technology

Experience - 2 to 5 years
