Job Summary
The Radiographer is responsible for performing diagnostic imaging procedures such as X-ray, CT, MRI, and other radiological examinations as per the physician's or radiologist's instructions. The role involves ensuring patient safety, obtaining high-quality images, maintaining equipment, and following radiation safety protocols.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform X-ray and other assigned radiological imaging procedures accurately.
- Verify patient identity, examination details, and clinical history before procedures.
- Explain procedures to patients and provide appropriate instructions.
- Position patients correctly to obtain high-quality diagnostic images.
- Follow radiation protection and safety protocols at all times.
- Operate radiology equipment safely and efficiently.
- Ensure proper exposure techniques and minimize unnecessary radiation exposure.
- Review images for technical quality before forwarding them for reporting.
- Maintain cleanliness and hygiene of the imaging room and equipment.
- Monitor equipment performance and immediately report technical issues.
- Maintain accurate records of examinations and patient information.
- Coordinate with radiologists, doctors, nurses, and other healthcare professionals.
- Handle emergency situations appropriately during imaging procedures.
- Follow infection-control procedures and organizational policies.
- Ensure proper use of PPE and radiation protection devices.
- Maintain confidentiality of patient information.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Radiography / Medical Imaging Technology or equivalent.
- Relevant registration/licensing as applicable.
- Additional certification in CT/MRI will be an advantage.
Experience
- 2–5 years of experience in radiography or diagnostic imaging.
- Freshers with relevant qualifications may also be considered depending on organizational requirements.
