Job Summary

Mummys Market is looking for a Junior Mobile App Developer with 1 to 2 years of experience to join our technology team and help develop, maintain, and improve our iOS and Android mobile applications.

The ideal candidate should have hands-on experience with React Native and Expo, a good understanding of JavaScript/TypeScript, and an interest in learning backend API integration, app deployment, analytics, and cloud technologies.

You will work closely with our development team to build recent features, fix bugs, improve application performance, and support the ongoing development of our mobile applications across eCommerce, events, and family-related platforms.

This is a hands-on role suited for someone who is eager to learn, take ownership of assigned tasks, and grow into a full-stack mobile developer.

Key Responsibilities

1. Mobile App Development

- Develop and maintain iOS and Android applications using React Native and Expo.
- Build responsive and user-friendly mobile interfaces using JavaScript/TypeScript.
- Implement reusable UI components and follow existing application design patterns.
- Work with state management and data-fetching libraries such as Redux and React Query.
- Work with styling frameworks such as Tailwind CSS where required.
- Integrate REST APIs and handle API responses, loading states, errors, and authentication.
- Implement and maintain WebView integrations, including basic authentication/session handling.
- Fix bugs and improve application stability, performance, and usability.

2. API & Backend Integration

- Integrate mobile applications with existing backend APIs.
- Work with APIs built using Drupal CMS, Node.js, PHP, or other backend technologies.
- Understand and work with REST APIs; basic GraphQL knowledge is an advantage.
- Use tools such as Postman to test and troubleshoot APIs.
- Work with authentication, API validation, error handling, and basic security practices.
- Coordinate with backend developers when API changes are required.

3. Third-Party Services & Integrations

- Integrate third-party services and APIs such as:

- Google Maps / Places
- Facebook / Meta
- YouTube
- Firebase
- Firebase Cloud Messaging (FCM)
- Analytics and tracking services

- Implement push notifications and other mobile-specific features.
- Troubleshoot issues related to third-party SDKs and APIs.

App Build & Store Deployment

- Assist with building and releasing applications using Expo EAS Build / EAS Update.
- Assist with application submissions and updates through:

- Apple App Store / App Store Connect
- Google Play Console

- Follow platform requirements and assist with resolving app review or deployment issues.
- Support the development team in maintaining CI/CD workflows.

5. Testing, Debugging & Monitoring

- Write and maintain basic unit and component tests using Jest and React Testing Library.
- Debug application issues across iOS and Android devices.
- Monitor and troubleshoot production errors using Sentry.
- Use PostHog or similar analytics tools to understand application usage and identify issues.
- Perform basic performance testing and optimization.
- Participate in code reviews and follow development best practices.

6. Database & Backend Support

- Understand basic database concepts and SQL.
- Work with MySQL and existing application databases when required.
- Write basic SQL queries for troubleshooting and data validation.
- Basic knowledge of PostgreSQL, MongoDB, or Supabase is an advantage.
- Assist senior developers with backend maintenance and data-related tasks.

7. Development & Team Collaboration

- Work with Git for source code management and follow the team's branching and deployment process.
- Collaborate with developers, designers, QA, and other team members.
- Convert Figma designs into functional mobile interfaces.
- Manage assigned tasks and provide regular progress updates.
- Troubleshoot issues independently before escalating complex problems.
- Be willing to learn new technologies and contribute to different parts of the application when required.

Preferred Candidate Profile

Essential:

- 1 to 2 years of professional software development experience.
- Hands-on experience with React Native.
- Practical experience with Expo and preferably EAS Build / EAS Update.
- Good knowledge of JavaScript and TypeScript.




- Understanding of React fundamentals, components, hooks, state management, and API integration.
- Experience integrating REST APIs into mobile applications.
- Basic understanding of Git and Git workflows.
- Good problem-solving and debugging skills.
- Ability to work independently on assigned tasks while collaborating with the development team.
- Willingness to learn and work with new technologies.

Good to Have

- Experience with Redux / Redux Toolkit or React Query.
- Experience with Firebase Authentication, Firestore, or FCM.
- Experience implementing React Native WebView.
- Experience with Node.js / Express.js or PHP.
- Basic knowledge of Drupal CMS.
- Basic knowledge of MySQL or other databases.
- Experience with App Store Connect and Google Play Console.
- Experience with Sentry, PostHog, or other analytics/monitoring tools.
- Familiarity with AWS, Cloudflare, Docker, or Platform.sh.
- Experience working with Figma designs.
- Basic knowledge of GraphQL.
- Interest in AI integrations such as Gemini API or other AI services.

You do not need to be an expert in every technology listed above. Strong React Native + Expo fundamentals are the most important requirements. Experience with backend, cloud, analytics, and DevOps technologies will be considered an advantage.
