The Transportation Systems Analyst supports U.S. domestic transportation operations by planning, tracking, and optimizing freight movement across the network. This role focuses on route compliance, carrier coordination, shipment execution, and performance analytics to ensure cost-effective, on-time, and compliant transportation execution across inbound, outbound, and transfer movements.
Key Responsibilities
Transportation Planning & Execution
- Plan and schedule U.S. domestic shipments (inbound, outbound, and inter-facility transfers) based on routing guides, capacity availability, and delivery windows.
- Build loads, select appropriate transportation modes (TL, LTL, Parcel), and schedule pickup and delivery appointments.
- Prioritize shipments based on service requirements, cutoff times, and operational constraints.
Carrier Management & Compliance
- Tender loads to contract carriers and manage acceptance, dispatch, pickup, and delivery activities.
- Ensure carrier adherence to routing guides, service level agreements (SLAs), appointment compliance, and contractual requirements.
- Support carrier capacity planning during peak periods and surge demand.
- Resolve shipment exceptions including delays, no-shows, rejected tenders, and missed appointments.
Shipment Visibility & Issue Management
- Track shipments in real time using TMS platforms and carrier portals.
- Provide proactive ETA updates, exception alerts, and escalation support for operational disruptions.
- Manage dwell time,
detention, early/late arrivals, and service recovery actions.
- Ensure accurate documentation including Bills of Lading (BOL), Proof of Delivery (POD), and compliance records.
Transportation Analytics & Optimization
- Analyze route performance, freight costs, carrier utilization, on-time performance, and transit behaviors.
- Evaluate lane efficiency, mode mix, mileage, accessorial charges, and consolidation opportunities.
- Conduct root-cause analysis for service failures, high-cost lanes, and rejected tenders.
- Recommend process, routing, and network optimization improvements based on data insights.
Reporting & KPI Management
- Develop dashboards and reports for key transportation metrics including:
- OTIF (On-Time In-Full)
- On-time pickup and delivery
- Cost per shipment
- Tender acceptance rates
- Dwell and detention
- Damage and exception rates
- - Prepare weekly and monthly performance reports for leadership and cross-functional stakeholders.
- Ensure reporting accuracy, timeliness, and actionability.
Inbound & Vendor Coordination
- Coordinate inbound shipments with suppliers and monitor routing guide compliance.
- Track ASNs, supplier readiness, packing accuracy, and documentation adherence.
- Support vendor performance reviews and corrective action initiatives.
