Senior Engineer PHP / Laravel / React / TypeScript

Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled and motivated Senior Full-Stack Engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate brings strong hands-on experience with PHP/Laravel for backend development and React/TypeScript for frontend development. You will play a key role in building and maintaining scalable web applications, integrating third-party services, and contributing to architectural decisions. You are expected to write clean, well-structured code and collaborate effectively across teams to deliver reliable, high-quality software.
Roles and Responsibilities
Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend services and RESTful APIs using PHP and Laravel.
Integrate and manage third-party services including Stripe for payment processing and ActiveCampaign for marketing automation.
¢ Implement background job queues, scheduled tasks, and event-driven workflows using Laravel's built-in features.
¢ Build and maintain interactive, responsive user interfaces using React and TypeScript.
¢ Develop reusable custom React hooks and shared UI component libraries.
¢ Design and optimize database schemas for both relational and non-relational databases.
¢ Apply SOLID principles and object-oriented design patterns to produce clean, maintainable, and testable code.
¢ Participate in system design discussions and contribute to architectural decisions.
¢ Write and maintain unit, integration, and end-to-end tests to ensure code quality and reliability.
Technical Skills & Expertise
Backend
¢ PHP 8.x - strong understanding of modern language features including enums, match expressions, and named arguments
¢ Laravel - Eloquent ORM, service container, middleware, gates,



policies, and form requests
¢ Stripe - payment intents, webhook handling, subscription billing, and Connect
¢ Third-party API integration - ActiveCampaign and other REST/OAuth-based services
¢ Laravel Queues, Horizon, Scheduler, Events, and Listeners for asynchronous processing.
¢ RESTful API design, versioning, and best practices.
Frontend
¢ React 18+ functional components, lifecycle hooks, context API, and performance optimization.
¢ TypeScript strict typing, generics, utility types, and well-defined interface design.
¢ Custom React hooks for state management, data fetching, and form handling
¢ State management using Redux Toolkit, or React Query
Databases & Architecture
¢ Relational databases MySQL or PostgreSQL with a strong understanding of query optimisation, indexing strategies, and schema migrations
¢ Non-relational databases MongoDB and Redis for caching, session management, and pub/sub
Required Qualifications
¢ Bachelors degree in computer science, Software Engineering, or a related field; equivalent practical experience will be considered.
¢ 3 to 6 years of qualified experience in full-stack web development.
¢ Proven experience delivering production-grade applications using Laravel and React.
¢ Solid understanding of system design principles and the ability to evaluate architectural trade-offs.
¢ Hands-on experience integrating payment gateways.
¢ Experience writing automated tests using PHPUnit, Jest, or Vitest.
¢ Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a structured approach to debugging and root cause analysis.
¢ Effective written and verbal communication skills in English.
¢ Ability to manage multiple priorities independently and deliver on commitments.
