Role Overview

We are looking for a Mathematical Jyotishi (Ganita Jyotish) who specializes in the computational backbone of Vedic astrology. Your work will focus on creating calculation-heavy evaluation problems with precise, verifiable numerical answers, where the solution clearly shows the full arithmetic and intermediate steps.

This role is ideal for someone who is comfortable working from first principles (Surya Siddhanta / Siddhantic methods and/or modern ephemeris-based methods) and can consistently produce high-accuracy numeric ground truth.

Responsibilities:

- Create 15–25 calculation-heavy evaluation problems per month with exact numerical ground-truth answers
- Design problems that cover:
- Nirayana longitude derivation from Sayana using a specified Ayanamsa
- Lagna (Ascendant) degree computation from birth data
- Vimshottari and Ashtottari Dasha balance calculations
- Ashtakavarga table construction (Bhinnashtakavarga and Sarvashtakavarga)
- Ashtakoot (36-point Guna Milan) matching calculations for given pairs
- Shadbala computations for individual planets

- - Provide step-by-step mathematical derivations showing formulas, intermediate values, and final results




- Produce problems across difficulty levels (easy single-formula, medium multi-step, hard edge-case multi-system)
- Verify each numerical answer using at least two independent Jyotish software tools
- Explicitly document assumptions (e.g., Ayanamsa used, year-length convention, rounding rules, time-zone handling)
- Track discrepancies across tools and document resolution rationale consistently

Commitments Required: 8 hours per day with an overlap of 4 hours with PST.

Employment type: Contractor assignment (no medical/paid leave)

Duration of contract: 6-8 weeks

Location: India

- Formal training in Ganita Jyotish (mathematical astrology) or Siddhantic astronomy
- Ability to compute planetary longitudes using Surya Siddhanta and/or modern ephemeris-based methods
- Mastery of Ashtakavarga computation, including the full 8-planet contribution matrix
- Proficiency in Ashtakoot (Guna Milan) scoring across all 8 kootas (Varna, Vashya, Tara, Yoni, Graha Maitri, Gana, Bhakoot, Nadi), including exception rules (e.g., Nadi Dosha exemptions, Bhakoot Dosha cancellations)
- Jyotish calculation software such as Jagannatha Hora, Parashara Light, or equivalent
- Spreadsheet tools (Excel / Google Sheets) for batch verification and consistency checks
- Minimum 3 years of computational Jyotish practice and/or teaching
- Robust numerical accuracy, including:
- degree–minute–second arithmetic
- modular arithmetic for sign boundaries
- time-zone conversions
