Job Description Inspection Executive / Quality Control Executive
Position: Inspection Executive / Quality Control Executive
Department: Quality / Inspection
Industry: Tool & Die / Precision Mould Manufacturing
Qualification: Diploma / ITI in Tool & Die Making – NTTF / GTTC / CIPET preferred
Experience: 1–2 years in tool room, mould manufacturing, or precision engineering preferred
Location: Bengaluru, with travel to vendor locations as required
Key Responsibilities
1. In-House & Vendor Inspection
- Inspect mould components such as cores, cavities, inserts, plates, stripper rings and other precision components at different stages of manufacturing.
- Carry out first-piece, in-process and final inspection.
- Study and interpret 2D drawings, GD&T;, tolerances and technical specifications.
- Perform dimensional inspection using Vernier Caliper, Micrometer, Height Gauge, Bore Gauge, Dial Gauge, Slip Gauges, Thread Gauges, Radius Gauges and other precision instruments.
- Inspect critical parameters such as ID, OD, depth, flatness, concentricity, runout, parallelism, perpendicularity and profile dimensions.
- Visit vendors and subcontractors to carry out in-process and final inspection of outsourced components.
- Inspect outsourced processes such as CNC machining, grinding, EDM, wire EDM, heat treatment, hard chrome/coating, laser welding and other specialised processes.
- Verify vendor inspection reports and ensure components meet drawing and quality requirements before dispatch.
- Identify deviations and coordinate with vendors for rework, correction or rejection.
- Follow up on corrective actions and maintain vendor inspection records.
2. Inspection Reporting & Documentation
- Prepare professional inspection and dimensional reports using MS Excel or inspection / quality management software.
- Record actual measurements against nominal dimensions and specified tolerances,
with clear OK / Not OK / Rework / Hold status.
- Maintain digital inspection records and component traceability.
- Prepare NCR, rework, rejection and corrective-action reports when required.
- Use Excel for inspection data analysis, rejection tracking, quality trends and vendor performance.
- Prepare straightforward quality reports or dashboards for management and relevant departments.
- Maintain calibration records of measuring instruments and coordinate with external CMM inspection agencies when required.
3. Inspection Process & Quality Improvement
- Develop, standardize and streamline the inspection process from incoming inspection through in-process and final inspection.
- Define inspection checkpoints and critical dimensions for different manufacturing operations.
- Create inspection checklists and standard formats for commonly manufactured components.
- Ensure quality issues are identified at the earliest possible stage to minimize rework and rejection.
- Maintain clear inspection status and traceability of components throughout the manufacturing process.
- Identify gaps in the inspection process and implement practical improvements.
- Support root-cause analysis and corrective/preventive actions for recurring quality issues.
- Work with Production, Design, Purchase and Vendors to reduce rework, rejection and dimensional errors.
4. Coordination
- Work closely with Design, CNC, EDM, Grinding, Assembly, Production, Purchase and Vendors to resolve quality issues.
- Communicate dimensional deviations and quality concerns clearly to the concerned teams.
- Provide technical feedback to production and vendors to prevent recurring issues.
- Ensure inspection results and reports are communicated on time.
Educational Qualification
Preferred:
- Diploma in Tool & Die Making from NTTF / GTTC / CIPET.
- Candidates with equivalent qualifications and relevant experience in precision tool room / mould manufacturing may also be considered.
