We are looking for an experienced Connection Design Team Lead with solid expertise in structural steel design. The candidate will lead a team of designers while ensuring high-quality engineering deliverables aligned with international standards.
Responsibilities:
Lead and manage connection design projects from concept to completion.
Perform and review steel connection design calculations.
Ensure compliance with AISC standards (ASD & LRFD).
Design various types of connections, including moment and braced connections (seismic loads).
Review and validate drawings/models in Tekla Structures & SDS2.
Ensure project timelines, quality, and client requirements are met.
Provide technical guidance and mentoring to team members.
Coordinate with internal teams (detailing, modelling, QA).
Track project progress and provide regular status updates.
Prepare and present reports on project performance.
Identify risks and ensure timely issue resolution.
Technical Skills & Requirements
Solid knowledge of AISC, OSHA, and NAAMM standards. Experience in:
Structural Misc. steel connection design, Steel stairs, ladders, and handrails design, Aluminium & stainless-steel connections.
Structural Main steel connection design, braces, moment connections, Trusses.
Proficiency in software:
AutoCAD, STAAD Pro, Mathcad, Descon, Ideastatica, RAM, MS Office.
Basic understanding of Tekla Structures & SDS2 (model review).
Qualification:
Bachelors degree in civil engineering Mechanical Engineering.
Experience:
10 to 12 years of experience in steel connection design
Understanding of:
Design drawing, constructability and erection constraints.
Connection behaviour, ductility, and failure modes
Understanding of load paths and force transfer
AISC / OSHA / BS / AUS standards (preferred)
