Role & responsibilities
Source and procure raw materials, castings, forgings, machined components, valves, fittings, fasteners, and consumables.
Float enquiries, obtain quotations, and prepare comparative statements for supplier evaluation.
Negotiate prices, payment terms, delivery schedules, and commercial terms with suppliers.
Prepare and release Purchase Orders (POs) in accordance with company procurement procedures.
Coordinate with PPC, Stores, Production, and Quality departments to ensure timely availability of materials.
Monitor supplier delivery schedules and follow up to ensure on-time deliveries.
Develop and maintain solid relationships with existing suppliers and identify new vendors.
Evaluate supplier performance based on quality, delivery, cost, and service.
Ensure purchased materials meet technical specifications and quality requirements.
Maintain accurate procurement records and update ERP systems with purchase transactions.
Resolve issues related to material shortages, delayed deliveries, and supplier quality concerns.
Monitor inventory levels and coordinate with Stores and PPC for material planning.
Support cost reduction initiatives through strategic sourcing and value engineering.
Ensure compliance with company procurement policies, quality standards, and audit requirements.
Preferred candidate profile
Solid knowledge of purchasing and procurement processes in a manufacturing workplace.
Experience with ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, Tally ERP, or similar).
Good understanding of engineering materials, castings, forgings, machining, valves, and industrial components.
Knowledge of vendor development, supplier evaluation, and contract negotiation.
Proficiency in MS Excel and Microsoft Office.
Solid analytical, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
Valuable communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to manage multiple suppliers and meet procurement deadlines.
