Key Responsibilities
- Obtain and negotiate Ocean Freight and Air Freight rates from shipping lines, airlines, NVOCCs, co-loaders and overseas agents.
- Prepare accurate and competitive import/export freight quotations for customers and the sales team.
- Handle pricing requests, RFQs and customer-specific rate requirements within defined timelines.
- Calculate complete freight costs including:
- Ocean/Air Freight
- Origin charges
- Destination charges
- Documentation charges
- Transportation
- THC and other applicable surcharges
- Maintain and regularly update carrier rate sheets, tariff sheets and pricing databases.
- Compare rates from multiple carriers/vendors and identify the most competitive routing and service options.
- Negotiate with shipping lines, airlines, transporters and overseas agents to achieve competitive rates and better margins.
- Monitor market freight rates, GRI, PSS, fuel surcharges, carrier updates and other market changes.
- Coordinate with the Sales team to provide commercially viable rates and quick quotations.
- Coordinate with the Operations team to ensure that quoted rates are correctly applied during shipment execution.
- Follow up on quotations and maintain proper records of enquiries, quotations and converted bookings.
- Ensure that pricing is accurate and approved as per company pricing policy before sharing with customers.
- Analyze profitability and ensure that quotations provide the required company margin.
- Develop and maintain good working relationships with shipping lines, airlines, vendors and overseas agents.
- Identify recent vendors/agents and obtain competitive rates for new trade lanes and destinations.
- Support management with pricing reports, market analysis and rate comparisons.
- Ensure all pricing records and communication are properly maintained for future reference.
