Role and Responsibilities:
To assist GOC/Hub in ensuring secure and legal handling of Dangerous Goods as per IMDG guidelines and Company Policy.
To manage at team DG DESK specialist
Review Safety Data Sheet (SDS) and ascertain the originality of the SDS;
Verify and check the chemical component in the SDS;
Verify non-DG request such as carbon, batteries, etc;
Check and verify the contents of a DG application to revert acceptance/non acceptance as per Company Policy;
Distinguish that the packaging details in the DG applications are as per IMDG Code recommendations;
Check and determine if DG commodities that are co-loaded in a single unit is permitted as per IMDG Code requirements;
Check that DG cargo accepted is also acceptable by vessel and transit ports;
Review XPF Policies quarterly;
Review Guidelines from CINS and act accordingly; and
Respond to general inquiries.
Any other duties as assigned by the Head GOC
To develop proper process for the Company DG acceptance/ DG screening / DG Documents
Preferred candidate profile
Bachelors degree in Maritime Studies or a related field.
Possesses DG training qualifications and is proficient in the IMDG code.
Minimum 2 years experience working in Shipping company as DG Desk Specialist.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
A proactive and assertive approach with the capacity to thrive in a dynamic and rapid paced organization.
Must be able to work well as part of a team and independently.
Possess solid and effective leadership to manage a team.
Be available for out-of-hours work.
Proficiency in the English language, both verbal and written.
