Job Description: Senior Design Engineer (Sheet Metal & Fabrication)Job OverviewWe are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Senior Design Engineer with a minimum of 5 years of experience to join our engineering team. The ideal candidate will possess a profound understanding of 2D/3D modeling using AutoCAD and advanced proficiency in SolidWorks, with a specialized focus on sheet metal design, complex assembly workflows, and diverse fabrication processes. You will be responsible for transforming conceptual designs into high-quality, production-ready engineering models and manufacturing drawings. [1, 2, 3, 4, 5]Key Responsibilities1. 3D Modeling & 2D Drafting
Generate exact 3D models and intricate assemblies using SolidWorks.
Develop detailed 2D production drawings and layouts utilizing AutoCAD.
Apply Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T;) to ensure exact manufacturing compatibility.
Maintain design data integrity and archive engineering specifications properly.
Sheet Metal & Assembly Design
Design sheet metal components, factoring in appropriate bend allowances,
K-factors, and material thickness.
Create flat-pattern layouts optimized for CNC laser cutting, punching, and bending operations.
Manage large, complex top-down assemblies while ensuring structural integrity and checking for hardware interferences.
Fabrication & Manufacturing Coordination
Design with fabrication in mind (DFM/DFA), ensuring parts align with cutting, welding, bending, and machining workflows.
Prepare accurate Bills of Materials (BOM) and procurement documents to streamline the manufacturing line.
Collaborate closely with production teams on the workshop floor to resolve design issues and improve manufacturability.
Required Skills and QualificationsEducation & Experience
Education: B.E. / B.Tech / Diploma in Mechanical Engineering.
Experience: Minimum 5+ years of core industry experience in mechanical design, sheet metal layout, and heavy fabrication.
