ob Description – Hospital Receptionist

Department: Front Office / Reception
Designation: Hospital Receptionist
Reports To: Reception Incharge / Front Office Manager / HR

Job Purpose

To provide qualified front-desk services to patients and visitors, manage registration and enquiries, coordinate with hospital departments, and ensure smooth reception operations.

Key Responsibilities
Welcome and assist patients, relatives, and visitors professionally.
Register new and existing patients accurately in the hospital system.
Handle OPD appointments, enquiries, and patient information.
Guide patients to the appropriate doctor, department, laboratory, radiology, billing, and other services.
Manage incoming and outgoing telephone calls and messages.
Coordinate with doctors, nursing staff, billing, insurance, and other departments.
Maintain patient registration and reception-related records.
Provide correct information regarding hospital services, timings, and procedures.
Assist patients with appointment scheduling, rescheduling, and cancellation.




Maintain confidentiality of patient information and hospital records.
Handle patient complaints and escalate issues to the concerned Incharge when required.
Support billing and cashless/TPA coordination as assigned.
Ensure proper handover of pending reception work between shifts.
Maintain cleanliness, discipline, and qualified appearance at the reception desk.
Follow hospital policies, infection control practices, patient safety requirements, and NABH standards.
Perform other duties assigned by the Reception Incharge / Management.

Required Qualifications & Skills
Minimum 12th Pass; Graduate preferred.
1–2 years of experience in hospital reception/front office preferred.
Basic computer knowledge and hospital software experience.
Valuable communication skills in Gujarati, Hindi, and English.
Pleasant personality and patient-friendly attitude.
