Pre-Surgery Preparation:
Room Setup: Checking and ensuring all surgical and anesthesia equipment (like monitors, ventilators, and surgical lights) is in working order.
Sterilization: Autoclaving and sterilizing surgical instruments.
Patient Prep: Assisting in shifting the patient, positioning them on the operating table, and disinfecting the incision site.
During Surgery:
Assisting the Team: Scrubbing in to pass instruments to the surgeon and assisting the anesthesiologist with IV fluids, blood transfusions, and drugs.
Safety:
Maintaining a strictly sterile field to prevent infections.
Instrument Counting: Verifying and counting sponges, needles, and instruments before and after the operation to ensure none are retained.
Post-Surgery:
Cleanup & Restocking: Safely disposing of biomedical waste, cleaning the OT, and decontaminating instruments for the next procedure.
Patient Transfer: Assisting the medical team in safely moving the recovering patient to the post-anesthesia care unit.
