Qualification
- MD/DNB in Psychiatry from an NMC-recognized medical institution.
- Valid registration with NMC/State Medical Council.
- Candidates must fulfill the applicable NMC eligibility criteria for Professor in Psychiatry.
- Relevant teaching and academic experience as per NMC norms.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and oversee the academic, clinical and administrative activities of the Psychiatry Department.
- Conduct undergraduate and postgraduate teaching, lectures, seminars, case discussions and clinical demonstrations.
- Supervise and mentor Junior Residents, Senior Residents and postgraduate students.
- Ensure effective clinical management of patients with psychiatric disorders.
- Participate in departmental academic meetings, journal clubs, CMEs and other educational activities.
- Guide postgraduate students in dissertations, research projects and academic work.
- Encourage and participate in research, publications and presentations at conferences.
- Ensure compliance with institutional policies,
NMC regulations and ethical standards.
- Maintain and monitor departmental academic and clinical documentation.
- Coordinate with other clinical departments for multidisciplinary patient care.
- Contribute to curriculum development, assessment and examination-related activities.
- Support quality improvement, patient safety and evidence-based psychiatric care.
- Perform other responsibilities assigned by the Dean/Medical Director/HOD.
Clinical Responsibilities
- Diagnose and manage a broad range of psychiatric disorders.
- Provide consultation and psychiatric assessment for inpatients and outpatients.
- Supervise emergency psychiatric services and crisis management.
- Ensure appropriate use of pharmacological and non-pharmacological treatment modalities.
- Participate in multidisciplinary care and referral coordination.
